It might have seemed like stunt casting to choose Gareth Edwards, the director of Monsters, to make the latest film version of Godzilla.
However the young director doesn't seemed phased by the scale and budget of Warners' monster movie and based on the early trailers it looks as though he's knocked it out of the park. Fans at least will be glad to see the Godzilla himself appears to follow his more traditional form, rather than the more lizard-like version seen in Roland Emmerich's 1997 film.
As we get closer to the release of Godzilla in May, Warner Bros. are giving us a chance to get to know Edwards better. In a series of of weekly interviews, Gareth divulges his experience of taking one of the biggest movies of 2014. In the first interview Gareth reveals his top three movie monsters, whilst the remaining interviews will be launched on the Wednesday of each week in the run up to the film's release. You'll be able to find the interviews at https://www.facebook.com/GodzillaMovieUK, so if you want to see them all then like the page for regular updates.
