BT adds more HD Channels to YouView
BT has announced an expansion to the availability of HD programming available through subscription to their YouView service.
Today they have added Discovery Channel, TLC, Animal Planet, British Eurosport and British Eurosport 2 to bring the number of hi-def services up to 26.

The new HD channels will be available only as part of BT’s HD Extra bolt on, which is an extra £3 a month, and offers HD versions of most of BT’s Entertainment pack channels plus BT Sport 1, BT Sport 2 and ESPN.

BT’s core Entertainment is currently priced at £7 a month and includes 20 pay TV channels with Investigation Discovery set to be added on 27 February 2014.

Alex Green, director of TV for BT, said: “Our new HD line-up offers viewers even more of their favourite channels in fantastic HD quality. This is just the latest in a series of new content deals we are offering on BT TV.”

In other news, BT Sport has secured exclusively for live German Bundesliga football in the UK and Republic of Ireland until 2017, following a competitive tender for the new rights, although we don’t anticipate that being a huge draw for new customers. The new two-year contract starts in September 2015.
