Bang & Olufsen launches 85-inch 4K BeoVision Avant.

And it’s not all that expensive

by Stuart Wright
Following the launch of the BeoVision Avant 55 earlier in 2014, Bang & Olufsen have announced an ‘upscale’ of the model at what they consider ‘a very competitive price point.’
The recommended price is £16,595 for the BeoVision Avant 85 and the BeoRemote One, so whilst it’s not exactly peanuts, at this screen size they are in the mix with some of the more mainstream competition.

It’s more or less on a par with the LG 84UB980V, for example, and about half the price of Samsung’s UE85S9S.

The aforementioned BeoRemote One can be set up for non-Bang & Olufsen equipment, such as game consoles, Hard Disk recorders, Apple TV etc. and this will be taken care of during installation This new unibody aluminium handset offers one-hand and one-touch access to features, menus and apps and there are also personalised MyButtons.
Cheaper than a Samsung
Bang & Olufsen launches 85-inch 4K BeoVision Avant.

The designers at Bang & Olufsen have aimed at reducing the physical presence of the TV when not in use with a motorised stand and a wall bracket option. Niftily, once you switch it on, there will be a ‘choreographed unfolding’ and with the press of one button on the BeoRemote One, it will find your favourite position, your favourite channel and your favourite sound setting. When you switch it off, it folds back the speakers, and returns to its resting place close up against the wall.

“BeoVision Avant 85 is a true state-of-the-art product at a competitive price for a television of this size and level of innovation. At Bang & Olufsen we are proud of introducing this grand television to a market that is demanding products offering extraordinary home experiences,” explains Tue Mantoni, the CEO of Bang & Olufsen.

The 85-inch version of BeoVision Avant features direct type LED with 2D local backlight dimming amongst its picture processing technologies.

With eight integrated driver units and a surround sound module, the Avant 85 should sound pretty special. The integrated 3-channel speaker solution with both centre channel and stereo at the same time, means you get the promise of exceptionally good stereo performance with optimised speech reproduction and sufficient bass to satisfy. You can also extend the sound solution up to a full 7.1 surround solution as the TV incorporates their ‘Immaculate Wireless Sound’ concept.

The BeoVision Avant is available in 85” from today (September 11th 2014), and will be on sale exclusively at Bang & Olufsen stores. As said above, the recommended price is a £16,595 for the BeoVision Avant 85 and BeoRemote One. Placement options on either wall or floor start from £1,095.
