Xbox XBMC HD cable

Anyone know where I can get hold of a HD component cable for my original Xbox running XBMC so that I can bump up the quality to 720p?

Thanks

Ebay is your best bet - or if you really want the best from your Xbox track down the Frozen VGA Cable!!

If you don't need optical out you won't find a better cable than this for the money

Re: Xbox XBMC HD cable

365Games.Co.Uk have a component lead for £5.99 delivered:

RGB Video TV Component AV Cable XBOX - 365 Games online shop - The price you see is the price you pay

From the picture it looks as if the connector at the xbox end also has a port for the Digital Optical Output, but it doesn't mention it in the description, aso not 100% sure, so it could just be with the analogue audio.

I've bought a memory card from them before and they were nice and easy to deal with.

Hope this helps

Re: Xbox XBMC HD cable

Careful guys!

I bought one of these thinking it would give me HD but it doesn't it is a better quality cable and will give 5.1 optical but won't allow you to setup XBMC for 720p which is what I really want to do.

Agree though good company to deal with arrived quickly and good price

you have to swich from PAL to NTSC (Enigmah-X PAL-NTSC Video Selector) and then enable HD output on the xbox dash to enable HD output

Do you mean composite not component?

component is what you need for HD, then use enigmah to switch to ntsc. There are loads of cables kicking around, there a huge thread on here about them, should still be around on the next few pages.

Re: Xbox XBMC HD cable

I guess this should work....

XBOX ONE (ORIGINAL) COMPONENT CABLE/LEAD HDTV 720P 1 HD on eBay, also Cables Leads Adaptors, Xbox, Accessories, Video Games (end time 25-Mar-09 22:08:46 GMT)

Anyone know if I would also get optical out for 5.1 surround sound?

the one on ebay & games365 work fine direct to the TV (i have one) - but i get ghosting going via my joytech 540c component switcher

don't suppose the more expensive ones will work better with the joytech switcher?

Re: Xbox XBMC HD cable

Still personally go for a Frozen VGA cable - that will give you the best results and supports all kinds of audio. It was created by one of the best Xbox modders out there so he knows what he is doing. Will take a bit of setting up but once you've done it, you won't get a better picture.

the more expensive ones do work much better, the pic with my old cheapo one was crap.

vga cables are good, but take a lot faffing to get set up and i'm not entirely sure they are worth it....

Re: Xbox XBMC HD cable

I have read elsewhere, that Konigg A/V Cable for Xbox has numerous ghosting issues! Whereas, based on reviews on XBMC forums, the IXOS Xbox to component solution seems very good indeed (5 RCAs, no digital Audio though)!
Quite cheap as well here!

Unlucky, I only got to know about this now, and this morning I have ordered a Konigg cable from eBay. So I will try my luck with it anyway, and if it does not suit, I will go for IXOS!

Re: Xbox XBMC HD cable

As I posted earlier, I received my Konigg Xbox AV Component Cable and have been using it to output upto 1080i using XBMC. I must say that I have been blown away from the immediate image quality. Now, I keep looking for more and more media, which would be as good to watch on my setup!

Unlike what others have mentioned here, I see no image ghosting on my XBox, unless someone else could guide with any specific movie/clip scene where they have noticed it. By the way, I am connected to a Pioneer 5090. Brilliant plasma from any angle!

At the moment, I am switching between Media Stream v1.0 and Project Mayhem 3.

I had been using PM3 before I moved to HD setup. For a HD skin, I love Media Stream however, its interface is a little cluttery and confusing for my liking.

So I keep shuffling between the two ...

How about you ?

I've been looking for this Psyclone component cable with optical audio for a while now, but can't find any sellers in the UK. Any ideas? Also whats required in XMBC to enable the 720p / 1080i output?

You need to setup your xbox outside of XBMC to NTSC which will un-grey out the HD output selections in XBMC only takes a couple of mins to do. See XBMC - HOW-TO enable HD (High-Definition) on a softmodded European PAL Xbox on the XBMC Wiki for detailed instructions. I use the Evo Slayer front end which has a Video switcher program to select between PAL/NTSC

Btw I bought two of these when I got mine and still have one brand new sealed which I've been meaning to use but its been sat here for weeks now so save you the hassle of ordering one from the states could send you for £20 incl p&p if you're interested?

Also thanks for the xbmc explanation.

Re: Xbox XBMC HD cable

Just ordered a new HDTV, am I right in thinking this is the best option still:
IXOS XPX04-200 Xbox to 5 RCA cable 2m - FutureShop.co.uk
OR
http://www.365games.co.uk/index.php?productID=1745
Or
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Xbox-Digitia...=cm_cr_pr_pb_t

Or do I ebay one that claims to be official from hong kong for £15?

The first one looks good to me because of the life time warranty.

IMO If you don't need optical out then the top one (IXOS XPX04-200) is still the best you can buy for the money

That cable is a PAL RGB cable, e.g. not an NTSC component cable. Confusingly its the same sockets on the end but the signal is different.
Video Signal Formats

AFAIK the xbox won't output HD over RGB.

Thanks, glad you said, I was about to order it! Someone posted it in this thread so I presumed it would work.
