I was in Game this afternoon, they are doing them for £59.99 with a free game, soon to be reduced to £49.99.

Re: new xbox

They stopped mking them late last year and what is stock is out there is it. They are dropping the price to £49.99 with a game soon and when they are all sold, it's the end of the Original Xbox.

Tempted to pick one up just as a memory of the old days

Re: new xbox

Try Argos!

They're doing them for £50 including Forza, Fable, Halo 2 and PGR2! See link below.

I've been severely tempted, but funds are low after buying a Wii in December!

Re: new xbox

i read something that someone posted about bill gates confirming that the price would officially drop to £40 in 2007 and no more boxes would then be made or sold after then, but i couldn't manage to google up any direct quote to confirm it. i suppose the other thing is that not many places seem to have any in stock, so it makes a price drop a bit pointless if you can't get one

argos is doing the xboxes at £50 with the 4 games, but very few stores have the xboxes in stock, but have the games. you can buy online for £5 delivery, but they don't have the games in stock. the deal is on till 19th jan, so you could wait a bit longer to see if local stores get stock of the boxes or order the xbox on it's own without games for £55

i had a look on the CEX website, which shows stock at local stores, and they do a boxed xbox for £45 and unboxed for £40, or a crystal for £50/55 i think, and also green ones for a bit more. i've been thinking about this as they are giving £60 exchange or £40 cash for the old bond boxset, as i have the new one now, i think thats a pretty good trade in deal, i doubt i would get a better offer. only if i got the £40 unboxed, i dunno what else to get with the other £20, maybe a £5 remote, i don't need anymore pads as i can use the one i have on my current box. i'm just not sure if it would be any less reliable getting it second hand (i'd wipe the HD and softmod) as opposed to new with 12 month warranty, altho CEX give a 12 month warranty too. i could get the crystal if it will look better with my silver AV gear, altho i would probably just hide the console out the way. i don't really see the point of getting so much trade in and blowing the extra on stuff i don't need, or getting a crystal box when the black would be fine. i was also concerned about how to ensure you get a box with a dvd drive that would read cdr and dvdr and the 1.6 firmware. the new argos ones are fine

gamestation have plenty second hand, but at £60 with 4 games of your choice, altho i presume from the 4 for £20 range. i've got most of the games i want so don't really want a package deal, i would just trade/sell the extra games pack from argos if i got it as i got one in december

my local game had no xboxes at all, and just a few games (in edinburgh), a new one at £50 if you can pick the free game wouldn't be so bad i suppose

Re: new xbox

I grab an Argos box for £50 - sold the games on fleabay for £29 (Minus postage and fees ~ £6) make the Xbox come out at £27 BARGIN OF THE CENTURY

Softmod kit on the way and bang the most versatile media kit *inadvertently* ever made!

(already have a chipped box with HD so this one's for the bedroom)

get them while you can!

P.S. to reserve on Argos log on about 9pm this is when stock seems to be at its plentful.
