SID 4.5 EEprom Backup

I modded my box using SID 4.5 and choose NDURE retail option to softmod. I took the eeprom backup and MS dashboard backup before modding. However when I ftp to E drive backup folder only MS backup is there. I wanted to make CD of my MS backup and eeprom backup but not able to find the eeprom backup. can someone plaese guide me here.

Re: SID 4.5 EEprom Backup

if you look on the big softmod thread there are links to download krazies and cash 1.1. if you download cash (which you can get via torrent too) and run that, there is an option to reformat the HD and softmod with krazies

thats what i did as i couldn't figure out how to get krazies on my xploder kit memory card, so i used SID4.5 and found to get cash to work you had to run that fix

Re: SID 4.5 EEprom Backup

You can get an eeprom backup from Ndure retail - if you insert the game you used to softmod (Splinter Cell, Mechassault etc) and follow the usual procedure to get to the SID 4.5 Install screen. Then choose Backup/Restore option, and then select eeprom backup - this takes you to a temporary UnleashX screen to backup your eeprom - below the 1st option, you will see the option to move the eeprom to the E drive - if you do this, when you next ftp in you will see the eeprom.bin file in E/backup/eeprom.

Prob a bit easier than getting rid of SID once you have installed already.

the cash disc makes backups for you. with the sid4.5 softmod, download, burn and boot with cash, read the instructions! and let it revert to formatting with just the krazie softmod, then install xbmc and extras and it should backup everything on the HD, once you've modded you can ftp the backups over if you want (i didn't bother)

it was pretty easy doing it, but i read the manual

Re: SID 4.5 EEprom Backup

Not sure if this is the right thread but why exactly is kraysie's so much better than SID? Like unique, I had an xploder and it was easier to use SID as that came with gameshark formatted files. I found it really easy to softmod and backup. I've now got XBMC working very well and everything seems stable. Xbox live works too.

I'm generally of the "if it aint broke..." school but wondered if there was anything I was missing out on or any compelling reason why I should change to kraysie?

dunno, but folks on the forum reckoned that CASH was better than AID, i had both discs, but CASH would only install with the krayzie mod, which i couldn't figure out, and it warned not to install with any other mod, but as it gave the option to reformat with the krayzie mod, i did that, which took maybe 10 extra mins to backup, maybe a bit longer, and after all that i got the CASH install disc working, which is what the folks on the soft mod forum seem to use. without using AID i can't say how it's better, but at least with me using the same version that most folks on the forums use, if i get any bother with it, there are a few folks on here that know whats what and can help

i'm hoping to get another xbox for the other room soon, so i was considering using that to also test other mods and stuff, so i might put on AID3 to see how it differs, and i can always wipe it with cash at a later date. i just want the second box to play HD divx in 5.1, and playing games on occasion, so it doesn't matter to me how it does it, as long as it does

i did try to copy the eprom to my memory card with boxplorer btw, but it wouldn't copy, dunno why. i was gonna back it up by connecting the memory card back to the pc to save ftping, but i suppose it works now, so as long as i don't muck about with it i should be fine

It will play the HR XviD releases at 960x540 with AC3 but it will not play 1280x720 without dropping some frames..

its the xvid stuff about 960x540 that i want. i got a 720p mkv file by mistake and it didn't like that, altho at least it tried to play it. my pc didn't like it much either, it would play, but then the image would freeze for a few secs and come back corrupted for a few more

actually i was looking at the CEX site and saw they did xbox's for £40 unboxed, or crystal ones for £50 unboxed, and i could trade my old bond dvd set in and get £60 trade in value, so i might do that seeing as argos are out of stock where i am, and i don't think i'll get a better deal for my bond box

only thing is, when buying second hand, how do i know i've got a 1.6 model that plays dvdr's and cdr's okay? and i presume the crystal model is only cosmetically different? with the rest of the gear being silver in the other room it might look better than black

i did the same thing, with the same problem.

the eeprom backup in my case was in e:\udata\ then one of the number subdirectories. ftp all the UDATA stuff from yer xbox then search for filename "eeprom.bin"
and it will be there.
