I have a modded xbox with xbmc and need some help on how to start streaming movies and music from my pc. should i use windows media connect (i,m guessing this requires the software to be running at all times) or sama sharing (would i need a new user account for this?).

Would i also be able to view and play all downloaded torrent files.

Basically need a straight forward setup with the minimum of software installation and folder navigation.

You don't need any extra software. You just need to set the folders you want to stream to share in Windows.
The file are then available to XBMC via the "WORKGROUP (SMB) Network" option.

I guess the extra user account i read you should use for smb sharinging is not necessary (ie wont be any more secure). Will give it a try later today.
