Optical Out On SoftModded XBox

I have a modded an XBox with Krayzie's Ndure 1.1.1.

I have changed this to NTSC and enabled the HD settings so the XBox now outputs out at 720 and 1080.

I have a high definition cable attached that allows optical out for Dolby Digital sources. I have connected this to a Pioneer surround sound system, but when I choose the optical input I am getting no sound at all.

I have enabled Dolby Digital in XBMC (my dashboard) and also have gone into the MSDash while softmodded and enabled Dolby Digital this way. The cable is definitely emitting red light but still no sound coming out when switching to the optical source on the surround sound kit.

Has anyone got any ideas? I am sure I am missing something blindingly obvious?

Are there any other settings I should have enabled on the XBox.

Thanks,

Daz

Are you trying to play a game or a film ?

Its just that I remember XBMC having its own output for optical and you have to also switch that on.

Re: Optical Out On SoftModded XBox

if its just in xbmc push the right analogue stick on the controller to turn the master volume up

give your optical outs/ins a quick blow, like the old nes carts to get rid of any dust

Re: Optical Out On SoftModded XBox

Thanks:

Pixelplus, as I said in the first post I have enabled Digital out in XBMC so it isn't that.

dan563, it isn't related to volume in XBMC because when connected via analogue audio out it works fine.

Thanks for the responses nevertheless!

Re: Optical Out On SoftModded XBox

Yeh have just got back from my folks (it's their XBox and surround sound system) and it was indeed the cable!

Brand new component and optical cable as well! Oh well I'll be sending it back to play!

Thanks all!
