Hopefully someone will be able to answer my queries

Ive managed to get hold of a couple but they dont seem to work, is there something that needs to be done to set them up ?

Ive plugged in the controller ends and can see the green leds light up, ive put the batteries in and can see a little red flash on the controller led as well but it does not seem to work at all.

Also do the FCC id's have to be identical on the controller and the input end ? one of the controllers is and the other is not but they both dont seem to work !
