Need more speed FTP

Just building a larger hard drive for my xbox

I noticed the speed from xbox to PC via LAN (wired) only averaged around 120kbs as I transferred c and E drives to build my bigger drive.

THis is way too slow for my 30gb of music it is going to take hours.

SO is there a quicker way of transferring mp3's from PC to xbox besides FlashFXP?

I can't imagine it would make any diferance but is it quicker PC to Xbox rather than xbox to PC.

What speeds have you been getting?

Do you use FlashFXP for your FTP client?

Re: Need more speed FTP

I found flashfxp very slow for me as well.

I now use filezilla, make sure you use the use active mode for the passive transfer setting otherwise it wont connect, and set it to download one file at a time otherwise it slows down.

Using a twisted cable setup I have managed transfer rates of 4meg

Filezilla is a free ftp client, just google for it.

if you need help with the settings, let me know

Re: Need more speed FTP

If you use Flashfxp, go into Options/Preferences and under the Connection/Proxy setting, uncheck the 'Use Passive Mode'. I had very poor speed until I did this.

I always use the Avalaunch dash when transmitting to the xbox. It has some kind of ridiculous burst mode which means I get 10Mb speed. However, there is slow down if you are transferring lots of noddy little files across.

I get 10 through unleashx and have same problem the little files seem to go slow.

I know the F: on the stock hard drives if it has one has issues with speed this is known but haven't heard it for C: and E: so it's got to be your settings.

Re: Need more speed FTP

Why don't you just store them on PC and do network share to access them over network or do them as wma have them stored so you can also listen to them as soundtracks in games.

Re: Need more speed FTP

I have the same problem took over an hour to put XBMC on my xbox and to copy stuff over but try going into XBMC then using flashfxp I find that using this in the XBMC rather than the EvolutionX Dashboard it goes a LOT faster.

To delete games from dash before took ages but once I loaded XB<C up and deleted 2 game folders it was done in like 10-20s

What I hope to do is use my xbox as a portable media centre so it really needs to have my Music on then I can hook it up to any TV and speaker system wherever I go...thats the plan anyway
