Hi,

Basically I can get an Xbox for pretty much free (someone bought it from Argos). But do I need it? Or should I save up for the 360?

Things I already know about the Xbox.
- Hardmod/Softmod to run unsigned software
- XBMC (how does it compare to the official eXtender?)
- Linux, but I don't think I want to run Linux on my telly
- HD connection kit + softmod to enable 480p (why do people call 480p "HD" anyway?)

What else can it do?? I keep being told "you will be amazed at the things a modded Xbox can do", yea but what exactly?

I currently have a proper media centre, a Wii, but no bedroom TV. So do I actually need one?

It sounds like you dont need one.

The three best things that can be done on an Xbox are:

1. Good media centre with XBMC

2. Great emulator compatabilty connected straight to the TV

3. Play Xbox games

If you already have a Media Center PC and only have one TV you are unlikely to use the Media functionality. If you have a PC you can also run all the emulators. The only thing you are missing is the Xbox games, most of which will run on a 360.
