How do you find out the manufacturer of your Xbox's dvd drive?

Re: Xbox DVD Drives

If the xbox was made after September 2004 it may also be a Hitachi-LG drive. The tray looks like the Thompson but the hole is bigger.

Re: Xbox DVD Drives

Samsung was the best I think, for playing DVD-RWs anyway.

Re: Xbox DVD Drives

samsung is the best. reads everthing thrown at it. they used to be soo expensive but you might be able to pick a cheap one up on fleabay now.

Thompson are pretty naff. just read dvd-r

There were 2 types of philips, the old ones were slightly better than the thompson but not by much then the new ones would read most media.

There were also two types of samsung. the old ones were the best. the new ones were imho about the same as the old philips.

Hope that helps (and makes sense?)

Ben
