Unhappy Telnet driving me crazy via port 23 and more

Ok, I have searched the ends of what feels like the universe for answers to no avail...

I have successfully used CHIMP to upgrade my HDD on a normal black xbox (soft modded) with no problems. But when using a crystal xbox (softmodded) you are forced to use telnet to guide you through the menu's, which has become a nightmare!

Now try and try as I might I cannot get telnet to function as needed, I have also never used this previously.[b] I think I have my xbox connected to the pc correctly using this guide> FTP Guide with EVOX for Newbies (crossover cable) - Difficulty 1/10 - Xbox Tutorials - Xbox Hacking, Xbox Modchips, Xbox Dashboards, Xbox Bios, Xbox Softmods, Xbox Auto Installers and have followed> How to use Chimp on XBoxV1.6 - Difficulty 4/10 - Xbox Tutorials - Xbox Hacking, Xbox Modchips, Xbox Dashboards, Xbox Bios, Xbox Softmods, Xbox Auto Installers but keep getting port 23 a error.

I have tried using both Vista & XP, numerous IP settings, firewall settings, connection set-ups and must have something seriously wrong somewhere!!?!?!
Has anyone successfully done this HAYLPz

Yeah, its a bit crazy, set your PC IP to 192.168.0.1
Set the xbox IP to 192.168.0.4
THEN
while using telnet use the IP 192.168.0.3 to connect to your xbox < Mad, but yes, 192.168.0.3

Telnet doesnt work by default with Vista, i couldnt get putty to work either, try it on your XP machine.

Hi,
If you are just upgrading from the standard 8 - 10gb hard drive then i think something is a miss if its taking 2.5 hrs.
Are your jumpers in the correct position ?
It may be wise to format the hard drive to FAT32 in your PC before trying the upgrade.

Jumper on the original is on Master, the one I want to upgrade to is on slave.
The drive had just come out of my other xbox mind?

I just had a "Duo X2?" Xbox arrive, with Slayers 2.7 disc if that helps?

Be aware, if you Unlock the hard drive it wont work in the xbox you took it from if that xbox was soft modded (your hard drive needs to be locked if you are running an original kernel, as a soft modded xbox does - this doesnt apply if the xbox was hard modded)

Take the hard drive and install it into the xbox it originally worked in.

Run the SlaYers disc and under `8 system settings` scroll down the list and under `Hard disk > Security` it will inform you if the hard drive is locked or unlocked .... If its still locked use the SlaYers disc ( option 4 APPS / UPGRADE / LOCKS / FORMAT) to unlock it. Check the `system settings` again to confirm its unlocked.

Stick it as slave in your other xbox and do the telnet chimp thing
