i want to softmod my crystal xbox. i have another xbox with modchip. and i wonder if i can put the hdd from crystal into the modchipped one, and then use a softmod installer...

YES, i've searched the forums, and didnt find an answer.

the hard drive is locked so you cant just take it out and put it in another box.

why do you refuse to buy the needed bits they only cost a few £

You might be able to do it without a xbox memory card but I'm pretty sure you will need a commercial game like splinter cell to enable the exploit. It will also require hot swapping the hdds.

Alternatively you can get a xbox usb cable here and use your own memory card.

Splinter cell is 50p from cex.

Trouble is you can't be sure if you will get a full price version or the budget rerelease which isn't exploit compatible.
