How do I get data onto it ??
Do I have to have it connected to a PC.
Or can I attach my external harddrive directly to the USB port.
I tried that and it didnt recognise it

The HDD needs to be FAT32, and no the 360 doesn't need to be connected to a PC.

Its a file system and the HDD need to be in the FAT32 Format. HDD's are usually either NTFS OR FAT32. To find out which one your HDD is, connect it to a PC right click on it in my computer select properties...
