XBOX 720p Output - Help

Have read over the threads but still a bit confused as the easiest way to do this..........

Looking to enable 720p on my PAL XBOX to use with Amped 2, Soul Calibur etc. Not interested in streaming and would like to keep it legal on XB Live.

I was going to pick up IXOS component cable but what else do I need to do?

Thanks in advance

Re: XBOX 720p Output - Help

u can either go with the component cable or (like me) vga cable.
or if u have a newer xbox hdmi.

then its just a case of going through the settings and change the resolution
this will also upscale dvds that u play through the xbox which works wonders

Re: XBOX 720p Output - Help

I'm slightly confused by your post - I'm not sure what the reference to keeping it legal & streaming is about.

First of all, what type of cable do you have at the moment? If you bought an xbox live arcade, I believe these are shipped only with a composite cable (has a yellow phono for video, red/white phonos for audio). In this case you will need to upgrade and buy an HD compatible cable as suggested above - either component, VGA or HDMI.

Once you have one of these cables, all you have to do is change the output resolution in the video settings section of the menu. If it's a standard 'HD ready' TV, then you'll get 720p & 1080i as HD output options. If it's a newer 'full HD' TV, you should also get 1080p. This is the highest HD resolution, and probably what you should go for if available.

Re: XBOX 720p Output - Help

Easiest method would be a Softmod with dual boot option :

Install XBMC as your hacked dash to enable the HD settings.

Boot up with the power button to enable XBMC
Boot up with the eject button to enable the MS dash, for xbox live

If you use SID 5.10 final, theres a special USB version that has XBMC included, no need to softmod with UnleashX / EvoX then install XBMC, XBMC is actually on the installer.

Re: XBOX 720p Output - Help

If you click on that link in my previous post, and download either SID 5.01 or SID 5.10 Final (SID 5.10 final is the XBMC installer version) theres a comprehensive manual (pdf) in the download that tells you everything you need to know, from getting the saves on the memory card to running the exploit.
