Hi

Buggered up my Xbox - it was softmodded and now im getting servise error 16.
Can anyone help - any advice on what i need to do would be great, thanks.

I think a mod chip is your only option.

Did you have an error 13 before the error 16 ?

Yes i did get error 13 before that - so its modchip time is it...?
Any ideas where i can get a solderless one?

its a long shot but can you still boot an original xbox game ?

If you can, try to boot the game you used the exploit with (splinter cell, MechAssault, 007) see if it`ll get you to the softmod menu.

Try a `Live` enabled game, go through the motions of connecting to live without an ethernet cable attached, this may update your dash.

If those fail, can you get your hands on a chipped xbox ?
you could use that to repair yours.

Did you back up your Eeprom to your PC ?

What version xbox is it ? ..... I have a few spares from modchips (not solderless) to flashed motherboards if you run out of options.

Yes ive tried to boot an xbox live enabled game but no dash comes up. Might have eeprom on disc from the guy that softmodded it for me - need to look in the morning.
Dont know anyone with a chipped box.

If you have your Eeprom you can build a hard drive from scratch using xboxhdm - Its a bit of a hassle but its free and relatively straight forward

No, you need your Eeprom to unlock/lock your hard drive.

Theres a guy on eBay selling xbox Eeprom readers for about 8 quid - other than that i think you need a chip.
