softmod / hd cable

hi guys i'm looking for a bit of help..

I need to softmod an xbox, i've only ever used a modchip in the past. How does one go about this?

I've downloaded aid deluxe, will this allow me to softmod the xbox without splinter cell or one of those action replay thingies?

Softmod Installer Deluxe - Installer Deluxe Wiki - Auto Installer Deluxe, Softmod Installer Deluxe, PSP Pandora Deluxe, PSP Installer Deluxe, HQ PC Essentials - http://www.aideluxe.com is that the thing I need?

Also can anyone recommend a hd cable for the xbox and where to get one? I've heard there are ****** ones on ebay that don't work so well?

Any advice would be muchly appreciated

edit: i also have an xbox with a mod chip if this can be used in some way to help

Re: softmod / hd cable

Hello,
To Softmod your xbox you need a memory card and a copy of either Splinter Cell, MechAssault or 007 Agent under fire.

Use your Chipped xbox, hook up the controller to port 1 then insert the memory card in the controller.

Now boot up with the AID disc, scroll down the menu to `Advanced options`
then to `install SID 5.1`
Pick your game, either Splinter Cell, MechAssault or 007AUF
Then select `Install to mem card 1A`

Thats it for your chipped box, stick the controller in your unmodded console and copy the game saves (SID 5.1) from your memory card to your xbox hard drive. (you have to press right on the D-pad for the `copy` option to appear)

Now insert Splinter Cell game, press A on controller & load the Linux profile.
Select the second option - `create MS backup` - let it do its thing, then select the first option - Install softmod

Go with `single boot` `standard` `UnleashX dash`

Let it install, then reboot ....... you can then use the softmod section of the AID disc to make XBMC your default dash.

Easy

Re: softmod / hd cable

yes, you still need to purchase a memory card, eBay`s probably your best bet.
Theres another option, search on eBay for `xbox usb cable` (its just a cable with a xbox connector on one end and a USB connector on other end) and use a flash drive as the memory unit ....... The cable might even be a better option, you can hook up flash drives, portable hard drives (it`ll only recognise upto 4Gb)keyboards or a mouse.

Re: softmod / hd cable

ok so I need some more help please!

i have the usb cable for the xbox and a compatible usb stick, kingston 2gb.

I tried chetts method - when i use the modchip xbox to install sid to the memory stick, it doesn't show up with a saved profile in splinter cell on the unmodified xbox.

I tried copying the save files directly to the stick with the file manager in xbmc and the copy fails to complete every time.

I also tried copying the save files using the hacked action replay software on a laptop. Its hard to get the memory stick recognised but when it works, action replay crashes when copying the save games over.

This is a complete pain in the arse lol, any ideas?
