£24.99 for 5000 MS points sounds like a bargain, but something is telling me it's too good to be true.

Yep, thought as much. Well dodgy.
There is a thread here: Anyone know, is this legit (& legal)

Who also just sell an account with points on extremely cheaply. Personally it looks dodgy to me so would avoid because it's much better to pay a bit more when you know you're definitely going to get what you've paid for etc.

EDIT: Just saw your edit which has updated in the quote

Nice timing

What with the announced price hike to XBL subscriptions (in time for Kinect) seems like a good time to head on over to "electronic first" ..

Now the CC's are paid off and cancelled need to get 12 months today so it's done.

Where shall i buy my code? reccomendations anyone? Ive always been wary and just avoided sites..
Cheers.

EDIT

Ordered from cheapxboxlivecodes, waiting for code.

Sorted

cheapest at the minute for download codes seems to be electronicfirst/cheapxboxlivecodes (its the same company anyway) but if you can wait a few days for it to come in the post then Very with their £25 off first order (as long as its over £40) is the best deal - coupon code ZZ082.

I have to get two 12 months for me and the other half so the Very offer saves £15 compared to the download codes and £30+ compared to m$

Hi guys, im seeing a deal on my dash board atm from XBox. Save 55% if I lock my gold membership now so I get it for £2.67 per month instead of the £5.99 regular price.

So thats £32 right. I though a gold membership was about £30 odd quid anyways, so im unsure if this is a good deal or not. Ive only ever had 1x3month membership

You can get a 14 month card for less than £34 from Amazon, Zavvi or TheHut, which is a better deal.

Xbox LIVE Gold 12+2 Month Membership Card - Halo Reach Branded (Xbox 360): Amazon.co.uk: PC & Video Games

Xbox Live 12 Month Membership -Special Edition Halo Reach Edition With 2 Extra Months Free (14 Months) Games Accessories | Zavvi.com

http://www.thehut.com/games/games-ac.../10236335.html

If you use Quidco, you can get a couple of percent cashback via Zavvi and TheHut.

Current deal on the Spotlight on the dashboard is 40% discount = £23.99 plus a free Halo avatar item.

Great but has anyone managed to get it to work.

First I had to add my credit card - that was accepted fine.
Then I confirmed the purchase and got an error message "Cannot retrieve xbox live account information Error: 80153085" with a button to retry. Tried a few times but same error - gave up.

Later on my PC, I noticed that I have received 5 emails confimring my purchase. Says the renew will be effective from 2\5\11 (when my current sub expires).

Unclear whether it has worked or not - on XBox I got a fail message and on PC I got 5 success emails. If it has worked will I get charged 5 times.

Also my sub still expires on 2\5\2011 (not 2012) although I note that Auto Renew has been turned on.

I rang XBox Live support and initially they had no clue, but eventually came back and said I would only be charged once and that it would renew on 2\5\2011. When I asked how I would know it had worked she just said that I would see a charge on my card. She insisted it had gone through.

However, she did also say that this is very popular and they have been experiencing glitches in the system which they are investigating.

Still not convince - would like to see it saying renewal now due on 2\5\2012. Would like to see some proper invoicing if they are going to charge my credit card. Also no sign of the avatar item.

Anyone else had a better experience with this.

Cheers,

Nigel

Have a look here:

http://www.avforums.com/forums/xbox-...xbox-live.html

I reckon the charge will only be made when your existing sub runs out, in your case in May next year, and auto-renew is indeed turned on (MS's bonus for the deal).

Mine runs out in april/may, so if i go for the dash offer am i locked in for renewal or can i cancel. If cancel do i hav to cancel month in advance or few days before it runs out? And is it easy to cancel. The price looks great but whats the catch besides autorenew.
Cheers

If you want to leave Live after your sub runs out, then you will need to phone or it will auto-renew. If you want to buy an extra years sub via a card from a shop/online, then just type the number in as normal before the sub runs out and it'll be fine.

What offer? Silver is free, you only have to pay for a gold subscription.

If you sign up to 3 months atm when your in your initial 1 month trial of gold it's £7.50 - so works out cheaper than getting a 12 month.

May be a bit late for most people who are looking at this thread though.....

Just to make people aware, I placed an order with Zavvi on the 15th October for the 2100 points. Was meant to be posted the 18th but still nothing. emailed customer services, no reply, so rang them. Theres a 'shipping error' and they'll be sent next week. Replied to the late customer service email response to say "No, dont cancel my order, I'll see if its delivered monday then cancel if its not" To which they replied "Thank you, I have now cancelled your order!!!"

What kind of shambles is that company!! A few more snidey argumentative emails later and I'm still not through with them! any way I can complain to these morons?! Dont fancy going through CS again as they're clearly a bunch of mentally challeneged buffoons who skim read messages and act off the back of a whim.

And again, anyone know where the cheapest points are at the moment?!

HMV have 12 months of Xbox Live with a free Black Ops t-shirt listed at £2.99. It's a pre-order and clearly a misprice, but I've seen misprices honoured in the past so it's worth a punt. The worst that can happen is that they cancel your order (which is 99% likely to happen to be honest).

Order placed. As you say, they will most likely cancel the order, but just in case...
