Also remeber to turn your gold sub back to silver when prompted (or the free version , however they word it). You'll only get the decent offers on 'spotlight' when you do.

You can stop auto-renewal at virtually any time online from memory (its a little hard to find, but its their). You cant remove your credit card from their system (unless you ring them up), but as long as auto-renew is off then your all good to go

Phone MS up and tell them your looking to see if they have any deals, you;ld much prefer to deal direct with MS but can get live cheaper than 39.99 from everywhere blah blah..
Especially worthwhile if you a decent gamer with decent gamerscore/played lots of games. They will probably quiz you about MS made games, Halo , Forza etc. They like it when you tell them you play MS games!.

Just had a quick look into my account. It states that it needs renewing at the end of this month, auto renewal is enabled, and my account is a Gold £1 per month (that was the offer that I took up on signing up)

How much will I get billed at the end of the month?

If I ring up and query this, whats the best that I can get out of them other than the 12 months for £24

5.99 I think, stop it quick!.

Yeah phone them up , you should get the 12 months for 24 quid if your lucky. That seems to be what theyre offering to 'upgrade', as you would be.
Dont let it run out first though. I think you need an active gold sub in play for them to offer the deals. Could be wrong, but I had to get the 2 months for 2 quid first.

Just stumbled upon this thread as my subscription ran out today. Gave them a call and said it was only for people renewing before their subscription ended and who had been with them for a few years. So I said it was unfair that it had cancelled whilst on holiday so I could not get the deal. So they gave it me anyway! 24.99 for 12 months, just made me sign up for one month then charged me £18 for the other 11. So thank you Majnu for the tip off.
Should say that they asked where I heard about the deal, told them I couldn't remember as they were really fishing for info and don't think they were happy I'd found out about it!

He can play whatever he wants IF parental controls are off (or you can set the ratings allowed to play).

Online is a different matter so be careful. EA dont let you play online unless your 13. They get this DOB from somewhere deep inside MS's servers , some how or other.
I managed to get half around it by changing the windows live account linked to the xbox live account, but it doesnt work with all EA games.

Best bet is to put dob as at least 13 years old.

The Sainsburys deal is instore only I believe, although reckon it's going to be hit and miss as to whether your local has any in stock (at least that was the case when I was looking the other week in Leeds). As mentioned previously in this thread, I'd ring MS if your account is still active (gold) to see whether they can do the 12 months at £23.99 for you. I ended up going to cheapxboxlivecodes.com at £31.99 as the next cheapest option available at the time.

It's always cheaper to get it from ringing MS up and explaining you wish to cancel. They should give you an offer then depending on how long you have been on XBL. Prices range anywhere from £24-30 for 12 months. You can always haggle and say that the PC is free though

I read somewhere recently that ringing MS to remove your credit card details from your XBL account will prompt them to offer you a year's sub at circa £24.

Just tried calling Xbox Support to say I want my card removed in the hope they would offer me something and got nothing!

Can't see any offers on the dashboard either. Anywhere selling for under £30? My main option at the moment is ShopTo for £29.99. I also need to renew my brothers Xbox Live.
