The console free 1 month trials, tied to console or HD?

Hoping someone will be able to answer this question for me. The free 1 month trials you get on a new console when you either create or recover your gamer profile, are they tied to the console or the hard drive?

Reason I ask is as I'm having some fun creating celebrety avatars, I thought about making up another profile to use. The thing is at the moment I have a new console with my old 20gb hard drive attatched(my new 60gb is waiting for me in England) and I don't want to waste a 1 month trial just for messing around with as I will likely be needing those trials to see me through a few tight months when we move back to blighty.

Oh, I'd used up all the free trials on my previous console(which is where my current 20gb hard drive is from) by the way.

So just reiterate, if I create a new profile on my new console, with my old 20gb hard drive attatched, will it give me the free 1 month trial, or will the free trials only be given when I attatch the new 60gb hard drive?

Since the gamertags that have been on Live are saved on the 20GB HD, I'd be inclined to believe that 3 Live GTs on any HD means no more can be created for a month's trial. Even if the HD has been fixed onto a new console!

I'm in a similar position. I have a new console, new 60GB HD on it, but I transferred my 2 gamertags that have gone Gold onto it from my old console's 20GB. So would that mean that I could only create one new 1 Month Gold GT? Even though I bought a 360 all over again?!

I don't need to create a new GT, I've got Live months on cards to add and still to run, but the question's still an interesting one.

Just to answer my own question in case it's useful to anyone else.

The free gold one month trials are clearly linked to the actual console and not linked with the hard drive. I have my old 20gb hard drive attatched to my new console and having just set up a Japan account in the hope of downloading the Resi5 demo(which is now region-locked by the way) I can confirm that the new Japan account has been given the gold trial(and I'd already used up my four free trials on my old 360 which this hard drive belonged to).
