Migrating live account from one 360 to another

Sorry if this has been answered somewhere else but I could not find it. My current premium console (2nd one) is starting to freeze on games and sometimes the picture is tearing up. I was thinking of trading it now for either a new V2 Premium or an elite. What is the process for transfering my live account details. I presume I would have to completly wipe my exsiting hard drive before trading in so I what to know the process before doing this.

Thanks alot

Peter

Lots of people wipe their hard drive first, just to be sure there is no stored credit card info on there or passwords, etc. When you get your new xbox online just go to the recover gamertag from xbox live option and fill in the details. Just make sure put your old 360 online briefly before you get rid of it to make sure all of your achievements etc are definately uploaded to xbox live.

Re: Migrating live account from one 360 to another

What about game saves?

I have just got a HDD for my girlfriend's Core unit and want to get her profile of my HDD and onto the new one.

I also have a memory unit so is it just a simple case of moving her profile from my HDD to the MU then to the new HDD?

Only problem is the MU is only 64MB and a good few of her saves are about 20MB each (skate replays etc). Can I just do it bit by bit?

Also, if I'm just transfering the profile and saves over will I have to bother with any account recovery?

Sorry to butt into this thread, but my question isnt worth a thread of it's own.

Cheers!

Lee

Sorry Lee I don't have any experience of that. I just recovered my profile and didn't keep any saves. Stupid really becasue now I have to start cod3 on veteran again, dammit.

I think you can do the saves on the memory unit no problem, not sure about the profile, although if it lets you save it to the memory unit I don't see why you can't move it back to the new 360.
