Evening,

Right i have not touched my 360 for about 2 months, the 30th of March was the last time i actually used it. so i have not installed no update on the 360, i went to turn it in tonight and i could not connect to live at all, i tested connection and everything was fine and confirmed beside the xbox live part which failed.

Right so i have not installed any update ... but does this mean i am banned?

Anyone else had the same sort of problem?

Ps: Also When i tested connection everything was fine besides xbox live? which failed? i have not even been prompted to update my 360 yet.

My ps3 on the other hand works fine and connects ok using the same router.

If Microsoft have banned you they don't make mistakes, no wait they do make mistakes from time to time, but have you modded your Xbox 360 in anyway.

Nah, you get a big error message when you're banned. If it's just failing to connect, there's a connection error somewhere.

Do you get a connection failed message if your subscription has expired ?.

Other than that, it has got to be a set up issue between the xbox and the router/modem.

More than likely it's because the OP hasn't put the updates on!! Allow the updates and try again.

Thats my problem, i cannot allow an update to download? because i cannot get on Live full stop.

When the test fails at the Xbox LIVE part, press Y to get the error codes. Then Google the codes.

Yeah that make perfect sence, but when i tested connection everything worked beside the xbox live part.

There is also no codes to display, so i can't google it either.

I will retry in a little while, i need to go and pick up Forza also.

If you have been banned you get a specific error code on screen.

Check Major Nelsons site for the code.

I sometimes have this problem.

It usually rectifies itself if you try rebooting your router.

Might be worth a try?

Weren't they banning for out of region billing info aswell?

If you have been banned and you contest it, I imagine they'll ask you to ship the machine in so they can examine it for any tampering. Inconveniant, but I imagine they'd compensate you in some way for the trouble.

I believe thats what they do for people who have multiple failures.

They wont ask you to send it in, they simply tell you that you've not stuck to the terms and conditions and you will need to recover your acount to another xbox.

Perhaps you misunderstood what I said.

If you CONTEST their assertion that you have modified the xbox, they will ask for you to send it in so they can examine it.

If it turns out that you have modified it, the shipping will probably be your responsibility. Otherwise I imagine they will refund it, and compensate you in some way.

I have a friend who was asked to do this with the Xbox 1. However his was modded so he didnt bother
