Re: Orange Broadband

I use orange & I find it ok,havnt had any trouble at all with it.Then again I havnt had to call customer services yet.
The router was fairly easy to set up & works fine with the official MS wireless adapter.
As my mobile bill was over £35 I took out their plan that gave me 'free broadband' so I was well happy.
I didnt think I would be because I had a terrible time with Wannadoo, but 'touch wood' Orange seems ok.

Re: Orange Broadband

I found Orange a complete waste of space from start to finish. I was with Wanadoo and freeserve before that and neverhad any problems with my broadband. As soon as Orange took over Wanadoo and rolled out all the new phone cutomers with broadband it became appaling for me. At least 2-3 down times a month some times a week and the customer service is shocking. Trained chimps could do a better job at relaying information and giving advise. Final nail in the coffin was our recent house move and them telling me a date to phnoe to cancel so I don't get charged for an extra month of broadband when I don't even live in the house. They told me the latest date to phone was the 12 December so I phoned on the 11th to which I got told I was to late I couldn't cancel and I would be charged for another month. Others may have had no problems at all (like I had with Wanadoo before Orange took over and the users of Orange broadband rocketted with mobile contracts) but I wouldn't touch Orange with a barge poll since moved to SKY and had no problems at all. Sorry for the rant

Re: Orange Broadband

DO NOT go with Orange. I have just cancelled with them due to only recieving half a meg speed at best (sometimes as little as 0.1), this is terrible being as it's meant to be up to 8 mb. They are totally **** and have not got a clue what is going on so in the end I had to bail out of my 12 month contract and refuse to pay them, which in the end I won due to them accepting just how **** they are.

Re: Orange Broadband

I signed up to Wanadoo couple of years ago, and as a result I'm now an Orange user. I personally don't like them as an ISP, but do get good connection speeds and latency over XBL. I should change, but never seem to get round to it.

Good points:
Only down once (for 1 day) in the last 2 years.
They never complain about bandwidth useage. (I have a 2Gb/Month cap and regularly use over 8Gb without any snot-o-grams or warnings from them).
Good connection to XBL, plenty of AVFers can see my Ranked GoW matches.

Bad Points:
SMTP Mail (port 25) is redirected, so getting to any mail server other than theirs is difficult.
Recently DNS (53) traffic has been re-directed too, my OpenDNS settings are now overridden.
Their helpdesk have no idea. They read stuff off screens. If you want to speak someone who does have a clue, you have to ring a premium number.
I did have a period of crappy connection last month, don't think it was at my end, but can't be sure.
