stung using us xbox stuff?

I bagged my 12 months xbox live for less than £20 using US ebay (and got the code emailed to me)

thsi worked fine, however, my mates just been to America to see his sister and whilst he was out there purchased some points and 12 months live.

however, neither work on his console now he has come home.

When did M$ stop allowing us live codes?

what is the point of the "points" system?? I thought it was a decent idea effectively crerating a universal currency for buying these games, however, IF these points are region locked then it seems a pointless waste of time. They masy as well just charge real money for them.

suffice to say my mate is abit peed off, esp when my live code from the us worked fine.

Re: stung using us xbox stuff?

happened at spring update, they are region locked main reason is so ppl outside of america cant buy the marketplace stuff. think its all down to M$ not wanting to be sued over licening and distribution rights, cant have M$ sell movies/shows not allowed in other markets yet, plus the fact the content is cheaper b/c of currency exchange and EU laws

cheers for the info.

i understand locking the market place stuff, but imo they are gits for stopping the points / live topups working.
