Re: Xbox Live Downtime

Sounds interesting!!!

Quote:
Q: Why? Why? Why?

A: Because we're adding some cool stuff. And we have to take the service and website offline in order to do it. We're not doing it to make you mad … really.

Q: What kind of cool stuff?

A: Secret cool stuff that we'll tell you about when we're back online October 18. Other stuff we'll be talking about later in the fall.

Re: Xbox Live Downtime

For "cool stuff" read more things you can buy

Edit: Turning off my cynical side for a moment, maybe it's some very cool stuff for free.

Note it also says
Quote:
BTW:When the service come back, you will not have a dashboard update. That will happen later this Fall.
so the really cool stuff will be a bit later IMO.

There has been some speculation about "modded" Xboxs being banned following this update and the upcoming dash update.

Re: Xbox Live Downtime

Firstly there is definately going to be the support of 1080p on the console

The software for gamers to make their own homebrew games should be in there as well

LIVE Marketplace and the LIVE Arcade sections of our consoles are meant to get a revamp and the inclusion of pictures and better organisation of the downloadable content like shown below

There will probably be loads more as well but hasn't been announced yet

Re: Xbox Live Downtime

I'm pretty confident that we will see a browser on the 360 in the near future, as Sony and Nintendo are pushing their browser functionality heavily.

Fingers Crossed eh?

Also I didnt think that the xbox was capable of digital signal output, if this is the case how will they do 1080p?

Re: Xbox Live Downtime

1080p will be available for movies through VGA and for games through VGA or Component. To get 1080p on movies we would need the HDMI Lead

Re: Xbox Live Downtime

You can plug any KB/Mouse combo in to the 360, never tried with games (doubtful?) but it's handy for lengthy PM's.
