Question More Xbox Live in uni halls queries

Hey. I made a thread a while ago that I couldn't get passed the 'network' section when testing my xbox live connection in my uni halls, but now I've managed to get it to recognise the network. Sometimes when checking, I even get a message saying 'xbox live is up and running' on the side, which I had never seen before..

however, on the last step I still get a failure message because my MTU settings are too low. I used this FAQ: ::. Kitz - Vista MTU .::

but it still wasn't being recognised by the xbox. I'm convinced that it will work if I get this sorted out, especially considering I've passed the network test

I have a feeling the IT guys here must have felt the need to do something, considering how MW2 is out and all the dudes here are desparately trying to get online!

anyhow, I was wondering if anyone knew what I could do to make this work?

Cheers

I dont know much about these things but the MTU is a setting in the router, to change it you have to put the ip address of the router (normally somthing like 192.168.1.1) in your address bar on internet explorer and that then brings up a sign in screen, you need a user name and password to get past this screen which are normally set to admin, admin although your IT guys would have changed these i assume. Once in the routers settings you change the MTU value, 1432 is what i use as a value and that works for me, not sure about everyone else though.

Not sure if this going to help but thats my undestanding of it.
