Recently I had been having really bad lag on Xbox particularly on Fight Night and FIFA but I sorted them out doing the DMZ thing and setting up a static ip and all that. Before I was getting red and orange latency things before entering a game, now I get green all the time so I figured it was sorted.

However when I play Pro Club Championship on FIFA with my mates I lag like crazy every game it's just a constant bouncing on the screen it's practically unplayable. I have this crazy theory though that it's my mates connection that is making it do it because whenever he is in a party with us their voices start stuttering etc. In the game though nobody else lags except me so I always assumed it was just me with a bad connection. Is it possible for him to cause the bad connection but only me lag?

1 v 1s are fine though. I have a 20mb Virgin connection, I have tried everything, even plugging the cable straight into the modem which I just got from Virgin about 2 months ago, I'm just lost. Any help would be much appreciated.

If he is causing the bad connection he wouldn't notice and his connection would be fine. If other online games are fine then it isn't you, have you tried pingtest.net and see what you get there?

On that site I get 0% packet loss whatever that is? 36ms for the ping and jitter 8ms.

It has been wrecking my head for ages, because nobody else in the game lags but I have no idea how it works. Surely he would make everyone lag and not just me?

I've opened ports, enabled that DMZ and alsorts. I was trying to find the ports for FIFA 10 as well but it just doesn't work when I play online team play or club games.


I had a feeling it was the modem so I got a new one because my other one was pretty old, could it be the router? It's a pretty old Belkin or would that show up on the ping test?

EDIT - Just done that test again on a different server and got 29ms. And then on another server and got 26ms. I'm assuming those are decent?

Just done the speedtest as well and got 7.02 download, 0.62 upload and 18ms ping. I never have been able to get 20mb from Virgin ever since we got the XL package but that's a different story.

Think I might have found something out. I test this morning and was getting pings of 26ms. Now when I test which is normally when I'm playing with my mates I'm getting pings of 150ms I mean what the hell? Is that normal?

This is what I am getting now, this is driving me insane are all internet connections this erratic? Download speeds of 1.83? What's going on there, I mean I knew it went down at night but Jesus I'm suppose to be on the 20mb package. Now my ping is at a B grade when literally 10 minutes ago it was an F.

I think this is the problem, that's why I'm getting good games during the day and crap ones at night. How am I suppose to fix that though? Phone Virgin and kick off or just change broadband?
