Unhappy 2 Xbox 360's and one router, how can i connect?

Hello all!

having a bit of a problem, just bought a second xbox and have problems. If im playing on one and the other one is logged in, it will disconnect the one that i am playing.

I own a Belkin F5D7231-4, never had any problems before we introduced the 2nd xbox.

If anyone can help i would really appreciate it! Ive had a look in the router settings but dont really know what i am doing.

thank you in advance!

Not many routers can cope with two 360's at the same time.
I think there is a list somewhere on that 360 help site.

Try turning on Universal Plug and Play (UPnP) if your router supports it.

This has other security implications like software on your PC being able to automatically open inbound ports on the router. You might be able to lock this down a bit though

I had this problem with my Linksys router. I used the Linksys's online tech support last night and it is all sorted now. Not sure if Belkin offer the same sort of support? If they do, then it may be a good idea to use it.

Can you recall what you actually did? nikki_level27 or someone else might be able to apply what you did to their similar issue.

Nikki, how are the Xbox's hooked up? are they both wireless or hardwired?

Re: 2 Xbox 360's and one router, how can i connect?

just to let you guys know, we are back to square one. My hardwired Xbox keeps reverting back to strict NAT

Got one upstairs wireless (my son) one downstairs hardwired (mine).

My sons xbox is now sorted though, although he had only a moderate NAT setting before. Basically the tech guy told my son to assign a static IP and to leave mine on auto. This seemed to solve the problem at first, as we both had open NAT, but like I say my Xbox always reverts back to strict when I switch it back on the next day, grrrrrrrrr!

Re: 2 Xbox 360's and one router, how can i connect?

You may need a new router that can handle 2 Xbox 360s at the same time. Have a look at the link deathtrap3000 gave for suitable routers. Unfortunately not all routers will work with 2 360s connected at the same time.
