New router needed for Xbox Live

Hi,

I need a new router that you know gives open NAT over WiFi out of the box with Xbox Live. My budget is around £100. If you have open NAT 100% please tell me what router you have, that would be a great help. I am currently using a BT HomeHub 2.0

Netgear DG834G, only problem I've ever had was when I upgraded to the lastest firmware but once I reverted back it was fine.
My V4 is currently running 5.1.9
I think I read somewhere that the DG834G was the biggest selling router in the UK, I know quite a few people who have one and none of them have ever had any problem.

I have an Open NAT using the BT Home Hub v2, so im guess im no use at recommending a new one

Re: New router needed for Xbox Live

I use a netgear 834g and get problems with nat, however I believe this is because I have two xbox's running of it. I've also heard of issues with V5 versions of the netgear router not working properly. I'm sure that somewhere on xbox.com there is a list of xbox live compatible/certified routers, have a look on there.

Thats typical, whenever they update stuff they always seem to make it worse rather than better.

Re: New router needed for Xbox Live

Another vote for Netgear routers...

They just work ("Open" NAT and good wireless connection if you are using the MS adapter or gaming bridge) and the design is "lady" friendly if that is a consideration (apple white and small form factor etc).

Re: New router needed for Xbox Live

i used to have a bt homehub, after a while it would change to strict nat all i had to do was turn it off for 1 minute then turn it back on and that would reset it back to open.

Re: New router needed for Xbox Live

I would have said DG834G, but as stated the v5 uses a different wireless chipset which is .

The HH2 provides Open NAT, but you shouldn't use the Xbox Live firewall service according to BT. You may need to reboot once every 3/4months to fix the NAT.

I've got a Netgear WR2000 that is very nice.

D-Link DSL-2640B

Microsoft Live Certified.

Most importantly for me was 'Open' NAT out of the box for two 360's.

Got a brand new one, still sealed, from ebay for £15.00. Bargain

Re: New router needed for Xbox Live

Another shout for D-Link here (I got a DIR-825). Had a few problems with Netgear 834s, switched and not looked back. Far better experience now for me.

Re: New router needed for Xbox Live

I have had Netgear DGN834GT and a Netgear DGN2000 and both work out of the box with Live and PSN.
