"Invite to Game" greyed out

When I go to invite a specific friend to my NHL10 game, the option is greyed out.

He's invited other friends, I've invited other friends to games before - never had a problem.

My parental controls are off.

My NAT is Open!

IDEAS?

I have not got this game but usually when an option is greyed out it is because either someone else has jumped in while you are trying to join or you are trying to invite someone to a ranked game. Ranked in games usually has to be against randoms not friends so ensure you are playing player or unranked matches.

thanks for the advice.

I tried ranked & unranked - same result! But whenever I get into the "choose team" screen - it'll freeze and kick us out.
