Wireless Adapter playing up

I have a wireless connection for my 360 which has worked fine.

However, when I switch the 360 off, the wireless adapter fails to stay connected to my network or at that is what I am assuming which means every time I start up the 360 I don't auto connect and also the background downloads do not work when the 360 if swiched off. Both are enabled in dashboard.

I know the adapter has a green light on the back when connected OK and red when there is no connection; should it stay red when the 360 is switched off but still connected to the mains?

The only change I have made recently is to open by NAT following the excellent instructions here for inbound services only which has got the NAT open just fine.

Any help appreciated as it's not the end of the world but I would like to background download again!
