Cannot connect to games or parties

Ive not been on my xbox 360 for a few months. I booted it up the other day, yet took ages to connect to a game and could not join any parties. I tried again tonight and had the same problem. I thought it may of because I moved my router, having a longer telephone line, so moved it back to its orginal position. No settings have been changed on my router, yet the problem still persists. My interent on all other PC's works fine. I suspect the network cable may be damaged, but I wouldnt be able to connect to live if it was would I? Any help appreciated

Have you tried opening the ports of your router?

firstly, go to system on your 360 and then networking and run the xbox live test. this will tell you if your "NAT" is strict or moderate.

If so, forward your ports. the above site will help you do it.

As Cassius said, it's more than likely a NAT issue. It's simple to sort out, so no worries there

Ports are fully open, always have been. The network test states my NAT is open

Have you tried configuring your connection through System Settings on the Dashboard? That has sorted me out on the odd occassion. If there's still no luck, then I would blame it on LIVE being silly.

manually doing it? no will give it a try. Im using OpenDNS at the moment due to O2's playing up, could this be a cause? should I manually enter the DNS settings onto the xbox?

just noticed on TS2, that im getting high packetloss, however when pinging google in command prompt, I get zero. Could this be linked?
