rules: 5 minute halves, any controls, any stadium, no half way line shots or any other exploits, decent internet connections only, no quitters, no trash talking.

good news on two fronts

1. all 16 teams who qualified for Euro 2008 are in Fifa 08 (phew). The list is as follows: Austria(3.5*), Croatia(4.5*), Czech Rep (4.5*), France(5*), Germany(5*), Greece(4.5*), Italy(5*), Netherlands(5*), Poland(3.5*), Portugal(5*), Romania(3.5*), Russia(4*), Spain(5*), Sweden(4.5*), Switzerland(4*), Turkey (4.5*)

2. It's possible to set up 4 team password protected leagues, so we will be able to simulate the group stages properly. The host has to be in the group though, so i will need one volunteer from each group to set up their league nearer the time.

Now all we need are 9 more players!!! Come on guys i'm sure there's more than 7 Fifa 08 fans on AV Forums!

still 9 more players needed, come on, give it a shot, you don't have to be any good as it's just for fun. You're only committing yourself to a maximum of 6 games over the next 2-3 weeks

Damn - got Uefa on 360 and I`m not getting on with it so I have re-bought Fifa from Asda for £20 ...... only problem is I bought PS3 version ! (no 360 stock at the time and thought I`d try PS3 as I had Uefa on 360).

Love the Fifa leagues and tourneys and just prefer the feel of Fifa to Uefa.

could be a problem, i'm guessing the sort of times most people would be available in the uk would be evenings and weekends, which would count out the evenings as it'd be the middle of the night for you...

Well unfortunately it doesn't look likely i'll get 16 players by the weekend, so i am thinking we could now do a smaller 8 team tournament instead, 2 groups of 4 followed by the semi finals and final, using the best 8 teams, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Holland, Portugal, Greece & Czech Republic - how does that sound?

ok, using a randomizing formula in excel, the teams have been assigned as follows:

HOLTSTER1991 (Holtster1991) - Greece
alexmufc91 (Alex MUFC 91) - Italy
guycoombs (G11Y) - Portugal
Saff3r (saff3r) - Czech Republic
wiser1 (WISE 187) - France
eddy no1 (eddy no1) - Spain
Me (Marc27uk) - Germany
slush (randomnut) - Netherlands

I have attached the excel spreadsheet so you can see the formula in it, to prove it is totally random. I saved it, closed it, then reopened it and used the first teams it came up with.

I will now do the same sort of thing to randomize the groups!

For the groups i got it to generate a random number between 0 and 1 over and over again until there were 4 0's and 4 1's - the first time that came about (took a while) the groups were as follows:

GROUP A (random 0) - Italy , Germany , Netherlands , Czech Republic

GROUP B (random 1) - France , Spain , Portugal , Greece
