Avatar Golf - 400 MS Points

Thought it was about time we gave this game its own thread rather than continue discussing within the Easy Golf thread found here.

Easy Golf has evolved, now avaible at just 400 points Avatar Golf features a whole host of improvments such as drop in/out online play(no need to wait around in lobby), aswell as the obvious inclusion of being able to use your own avatars as playable characters, both on and offline.

Xbox LIVE Marketplace | Avatar Golf

I haven't yet purchased myself, but am expecting a points card to drop through the post this morning so should be on it then

Sadly it isn't possible to transfer your created Easy Golf courses over to Avatar Golf so we'll have to start from scratch again there, so I'm going to take this opportunity to bid farewell to my old(painstakingly time consuming) favourite Pacman 3D

Maybe I'll finally get around to creating that 80's arcade game course in Avatar Golf that I never did get around to doing in EGd, should be better still with all the new objects etc. available this time around

Re: Avatar Golf

Cheers for setting this up Lee, was gonna but you be the unofficial thread starterer for arcade games

As you mentioned in the previous thread it is a shame to not have the 'look-back' view but other than that this is a shining example of how indie games should be. Need to spend a bit more time plugging away in it, will be good to get some AVF games on the go. I noticed it's only 4 player online sadly although in saying that I don't think I've managed to get in an 8 player game on EG yet.

Me neither(was offline for a few months around the time of the update), although according to the official game details it is 8 player online...

Ah I could just be talking nonsense then, it was on the Xbox.com site where I saw the max players. The game wasn't on the xbox itself but on the xbox.com marketplace when I checked so it's quite probable that they've got it wrong there!

Sounds like it, the game desription I posted above was also taken from xbox.com, should be fun online with 8, imagine 3 or 4 like us constantly landing in the drink

As a side not, just signed in to the AVF Easy Golf profile to check for incoming friends requests, there were loads all the sudden, 82 people on the list now, who'd have thought that at the beginning hey?

Re: Avatar Golf

Totally, I hope that Matt gets recognition from some of the magazines now as well to help boost awareness, the videos which were released a while back had a ton of interest in them so I hope that this transfers over to sales of this or Easy Golf.

Re: Avatar Golf

It's Easy Golf with bells, whistles and Avatars. Easy Golf was great so this is great+ if for any reason you feel 400 points is overpriced () then you can pick up Easy Golf for 80 points I think

Re: Avatar Golf

I was wondering why everytime I see Rorifett sign in he doesn't send me a message requesting a round or two.

Just to answer some questions, it is 8 player online. As a matter of fact, you see everyone elses Avatar on the golf course as you are playing...and they don't just stand their either...you see them swing and hit the ball. It is quite awesome to me.

Also, the reverse view is still in there. You just have to press the right stick to the left instead of up ( as up was replaced with topspin ).

One of these days I'll get around to sending out press releases and have a feature list I can post but I'm too busy playing Golf to get it done.

P.S.

I got into a round with MetalGearFloppy but Xbox Live was having issues and kicked me out. I got a glipse at one heck of a course that said it was built by him and I am dying to download that course.

Fett'll be on the course soon! Well, in the water 'on the course' soon but you get my drift! Y'know, I kinda thought the reverse view had changed it's button location but thought it was on a bumper and that just didn't seem to be the case... (it's been too long since I've played EG... )

Will get a wee blast round the holes at some point this weekend as long as the other half gives me time on the xbox that is! Need to get me a new tv so she can be happy on Zuma and I can play my games proper

Re: Avatar Golf

I've played the demo and loved it. Will be purchasing it later when i get on Xbox Live. Send me FR if you fancy a game. Will also send a FR to the AVF Easy Golf gamertag as well.

A big thumbs up to the developer as it looks and plays really nice. Hope he gets some kudos for this one.

Catch ya online later for some hacking around the course!!!

Re: Avatar Golf

I like the improvement. I noticed that the game plays somewhat different that EG.

Is it just me or does the wind has more impact on the ball now? I think this game is more forgiving on bad shots that EG. I also think putting has been improved - the distances the putts go are better vs having to hammer everything in EG.

Good job Barkers.

and thanks to the shot out for AVForums in the credits.

Re: Avatar Golf

Yep, congratulations on the top 20 dreambuild Matt, it has to be said Avatar Golf is everything Easy Golf wanted to be and more, such a fantastic game now!

Online is so flawless this time around, just jump straight into a game and if it's half full it'll probably have the full 8 players within a few minutes, amazing how fast the community is building when you compare it to EG which took a good while to get some regular games going.

Probably be on again later tonight, maybe see some of you there

LIVE Activity for week of Aug. 31st - Xbox Live's Major Nelson

Avatar Golf number 5 on Indie game sales list for the last week. Hopefully it stays in the top 10 for a while and it gets exposure that way.

Edit: out of the top 9, Avatar Golf is the only game that is priced at 400 points. All the others are 80 or 200.

Based on what I'm seeing it should move up higher next week. Avatar Golf wasn't out for the full week so it should improve.

Re: Avatar Golf

I dunno, you buy the game, you rave about the wonderfulness of it all, you big-up the creator all over the internet, you do all you can to try and make the game as big as your little consumer self can and what happens?

You look under Barkers Crest tag and see him playing 'Golf: Tee It Up'...

Hope that everyone who has given a review of this has actually purchased the game mate, I also hope there's a whole lot of buyers out there who haven't reviewed the game. The improvements since your very early videos (you know the ones with your old old wireframey characters) to the game we have now have been amazing, makes me wonder if you could've saved E.T. on the Atari 2600

Hahahahaah!!!! Gotta research the competition don't ya?

Johnnyups and I played a few online matches so you can ask him how that went.

Maybe I should throw in a few games to get it off my recent played list.

Purchase made - enjoying it so far.

Need to get a game with some AVF people - my only online attempt last night was the stereotypical 15 year old american kids trash talking!

Added AVF Easy Golf as a friend .... how do the group friends thing work?

Added AVF Easy Golf as a friend .... how do the group friends thing work?

Dez (aka ZedZed)
LOL! Is nothing sacred in the eyes of trash talkers? That just made my day They'd give up trash talking about me and my uncanny ability to find water in the desert, they would run out of things to say!
The group friends thing basically just shows everyone who has a particular game, the AVF Easy Golf tag was set up for Easy Golf which didn't have a drop-in/drop-out function like Avatar Golf does. You just need to send out invites to folks who are online in the 'friends of friends' section of the AVF Easy Golf 'tag, we might be best setting up an AVF Avatar Golf just because there's no guarantee everyone who has Easy Golf has Avatar Golf (chances are they do though but you never know)

Re: Avatar Golf

I've been managing to get a few games in with Tetlee and have been having quite a bit of fun. After all of the tweeks to make the game a bit more forgiving I was to see that he still finds the water.
