Kodu Game Lab

Kodu Game Lab, the community game that MS showed at the GDC earlier this year has been released for 400pts. I downloaded the demo and was impressed with the power of it. It comes with a complete set of tutorials and another set of sample worlds just to give you a taster of whats possible, for example there was a platform type level and a frogger clone. There is also a section to download other user levels, so it'll be interesting to see where this goes within the next month.

The only thing I'm not to keen on is the graphical style, it's nice in a weird sort of way, but not really my thing.

Has anyone else given it a go?

I was check xbox.com for this last night but couldn't find it. I'm glad it's out now. I think this will be a straight buy for me as I want to support R&D projects like this that help teach coding concepts (i.e. this is an object and it has attributes). Although thinking about it if coding gets so visual and simple it would make my career as a programmer a bit pointless

Downloading it now and hopefully I can have a play with this when I get home from work.

Re: Kodu Game Lab

Showed it to my 8 year old son today and he very quickly got to grips with the basic concepts. They've done a really good job of assigning conditional rules to objects.

Have you purchesed it? Do you think you would create anything if you get/have got it?
I still need to try it, ill be in two minds if its good, save the points and add to them to get 1943 or get more points in.

I'll certainly do something with my son - don't think I'd spend the time doing my own game (I develop software for a living, need a break sometimes ). From what I've seen it's got quite a lot of depth and could be 400 points that lasts you a long time.

Anyone done anything significant with this since it's been released? Would be interested to hear more about this, looked at it a while back but never spent more than 5 minutes on it

Oh and Mods could we have this moved into the Indie section please?
