I think the usual crowd will be on playing MM (Mike Myers) and other matches on COD4/COD WAW.
Looking at the polls, it seems Monday & Thursday evening are winning at the moment.
We now know that this is the place to organise all our online gaming.
I will update this first post on a regular basis with: Meets, Games, Dates etc.

Right, how do we get this to work then. I've been thinking, and have a couple of ideas. We're all new to this, or don't game 24/7, so I think the first thing is to keep it simple, but unfortunately it can be a bit mystifying, so an explanation of invites & parties is needed. A few lines in the first post from snorbawod will go a long way to ensure people know what to expect from AVF Noobs. Feel free to use the below, if you think it's useful:
The best way for people to use the tag is a 2 step process:
Step One - Joining someone else's game
- If you turn your Xbox on and have a craving for some online action, bring up your friends list, scroll down to AVF Noobs, move right and look at the friends list on the tag ("View Friends").
- See if anyone is playing a game you'd like to play online - if so send them a message with the text "?" (copyright kopchoir ). The person recieving the ? knows that the person sending the message wants an invite, and will do so if they can (ie. if the game they are in isn't full).
- If you receive a "?" message and there's room for someone else to join, wait until the next convenient moment (and you're out of matchmaking for Halo 3/GoW2) and view the profile of who you want to invite and select "Invite to game".
Step Two - Setting up your own game
- If no-one on the tag is playing what you want to play, it's time to set up your own game. Start the game up, start a lobby up, bring up your friends list, go to AVF Noobs, View Friends and then invite *everyone who is online*.
- Let's be straight about this, the reason you have AVF Noobs on your friends list is because you want to play online. That said, you should never mind getting an invite, nor feel you have to accept one you receive. All an invite is is notification someone has started a new game lobby - don't feel you have to provide an explantion to the person who has sent the invite (unless you want to of course), they are merely notifying you.
- Soon enough, wait a few minutes, and you'll have people in your lobby. It can be intimidating to talk I know, but don't feel you have to, but remember we're all noobs together here, no-one's going to diss you for not being good enough or not knowing what you're doing. It adds *alot* to a game where people chat.
So there you go, those are the general principles of how to use the tag.
NXE Parties
- One extra feature that was added with the update was parties. This allows up to 8 people to be grouped together to chat and allow easy group invites to games. Parties are best used if you have something pre-arranged, if you know who you're going to be meeting with and are planning perhaps to play more than one game. You don't even need to be in the same game.
- If you're in a game and are planning on leaving to play something else, and someone else wants to come with you, start a NXE party, and invite everyone that's coming with you. Start the new game (the quick launch option in the guide is very useful especially for Arcade games) then as soon as you've set up the multiplayer lobby, select "Invite party to game" from your guide. Bingo, everyone in the party receives an invite.
- One thing to remember about NXE parties is chat - you can select either game chat or party chat. If you're playing with people on your team who aren't in your party, it's not good form to not chat to them, so switch to game chat instead.
Games Nights
I would suggest certain nights are certain game nights. This will provoke interest, keep a night focused and attract people who have a certain game to be online that night. Say Monday is GoW2 night, Thursday Left 4 Dead, Sunday FIFA 09... That kind of thing. I leave it to everyone to see if these should be regular nights or one offs.
My thoughts:
I agree with having specific game nights, but i also agree with leeb about having just a 'games night'. So, we could have something like:
Monday - GOW2
Tuesday - Games Night (just join up with who's playing the same game)
Wednesday - Games Night (start a party and decide while in party)
Thursday - COD4/COD5 (TDM, MM, COOP ETC)
Friday - Left For Dead (For Munkey Boy)
Weekend to be decided.
This would give a bit of scope for the sporty games? You could maybe have something like FPS night or Sport night?
This could obviously be changed as new games are released. We could keep this updated in the first post and also let noobs know who the party starters are?
