NHL 09 EASHL Team

Well this is out this week and so far has 92 on Metacritic. Last years game was excellent and this improves on it according to the reviews.

One feature that looks great is EASHL which is online be a pro mode. It's like the 10v10 mode in Fifa 09 with one difference, The Goalie is user controlled! So all 6 players are user controlled in 6v6 match.

So i thought we'd create our own team. I dont think there will be enough players on here so i thought we could team up with the DVD forums players to create a bigger team and have more chance of getting people together at the same time.

We can have up to 50 players signed to our team.

The new online league on NHL 09 will let players form teams of up to 50 players. Although games can only hold up to 6 players per team, each game will be recorded for the organization and will represent an online rank compared to other organizations. At the end of a certain amount of decided games the top teams will battle in the playoffs and receive prizes and other rewards from EA. Players will also be recognized by statistics that will keep track of points and display the top players with their real names instead of their Gamertag

So i'm looking for interested players who would be commited and would turn up for games. These type of things succeed or fail by peoples commitment

I'm also looking for suggestions for our team name and a couple of people who will want to be goalie.

If anyone has any suggestions or Ideas please post them.

I'm getting this at the weekend so will definitely be up for joining. I only picked up NHL 08 a few weeks back and I'm loving it. It took some getting used to, but I'm getting there.

I also go on another forum and I imagine they might be setting up a team, so as long as you can join more than one EASHL team then count me in.

I'm picking this up today, usually the best sports game of the year, I'm a hockey gaming veteran and have played pretty much every hockey game going.

Had some great fun tonight playing in our club. We may have got thumped but the enjoyment of trying to work as a team was great.

stole this from another forum. sounds like good advice:

Don't forget to pass back to your defensemen in the offensive zone when everybody collapses over to you in the corners. We're always sitting wide open in the back, and we actually create awesome scoring chances for you guys by taking low slapshots from the point. You guys get deflection chances and great rebound chances right in front of the net, not to mention it will open up the offense because now the other team has to worry about covering everyone, so you wont be triple-teamed every time down the ice. When the defensemen have the puck, it also gives you time to get in position to score down by the net.

The team that ALWAYS wins online is the team that passes the most in the offensive zone. I think people will start figuring that out as the game evolves online.

Had a great time playing last night even if we did struggle a bit. I think we'll get better the more we play. In the second game we got a few decent chances towards the end of the game as we had all started passing the puck with more frequency. Against a decent team trying to skate through them will usually result in them dispossesing you in some way.

Good advice about passing back to the dmen - when I played left wing in the first game I was double teamed everytime - that must mean there are gaps elsewhere so it's a matter of sucking two defenders in then shifting the puck.

I don't think the default Be a Pro camera helps. It's great for single player, but I don't think it cuts it playing online. Half the time I wasn't sure where the puck was and if they had it or we had it. I usually took a gamble on them having it and skated backwards only to find we had it and I was about 20 yards behind the play.

Still it was a great laugh and I look forward to some more games.

After a couple of doings we got our first win!!

The team we beat had won 8-0 in the previous match (we had a user goalie which seems to be a bad idea)
