AVF Frontlines: Fuel of War Group

As with the other AVF Group profiles, just created a new profile for regular players of
Frontlines: Fuel of War

If you're enjoying Frontlines and would like to get together with other AVF members for regular online games, just send a friends request to AVF Frontlines with a message along the lines of "from the forums" so I know you're from here.

I'll sign in regularly to check and accept friends requests, then of course just use the friends of friend feature(check the friends list for the AVF Frontlines profile) to send/receive invites, join session in progress etc.

If you later decide the game isn't for you, please remove this tag from your friends list as the 100 spaces will likely fill up fast & you're space could be appreciated by somebody else.

Look forward to seeing you all online

Re: AVF Frontlines: Fuel of War Group

I've sent a FR.
Hopefully this will enable me to get some games with other forum members and help me make my mind up once and for all.
If I decide not to buy the game I'll remove it from my FL so someone else can take the spot.

FR on the way Lee. Had another 90 minutes on it last night (the game that is) & thoroughly enjoyed it.

Had a go at the drones too, good fun if a little exposed. Will try the EMP load-out next time as not dabbled with that.

Pour moi I think it's gonna be a case of "Move over COD4, Frontlines - come on down!"

Re: AVF Frontlines: Fuel of War Group

I've removed myself from the list.
Tried it again tonight but just can't get on with it - still have no idea what to do or how to do it.
I just end up dying a lot - usually by a tank with no chance of shooting back or out-running it.
The vehicles really spoil the game for me.

I joined your squad tonight but either comms weren't working or nobody was talking.

Re: AVF Frontlines: Fuel of War Group

Had a frantic game last night on street with 32 players!!!!

Seamed to be getting killed every few mins, unless you keep well hidden.

I guess its why its such a different game to COD4, which is a more Rambo type game, where you storm in guns blazing.

With 32 players, you gotta sneak and keep your head down, flank the oppo.

I had a FIFA league game to play so left you guys, but couldn't join again after so went on oil field map, jumped in the chopper and 'peowned' or whatever you call it!!

Taking out tanks, enemy, providing support, capturing areas while still in the chopper, ferrying men around, going back to refuel, didn't die once, bloody loved it!

Finished top after joining halfway through.

Can i be the chopper pilot if we have a clan?

Re: AVF Frontlines: Fuel of War Group

Not had a go in a chopper yet myself... Something to look forward to! Was on for a while last night with Tetlee and Superyew, and despite the majority of the other team being really rather good, I enjoyed it again learning new tricks every time I play. Very satisfying calling in airstrikes, picking out enemies with a drone and then sniping them, disabling multiple tanks with an EMP then blowing them up one by one - this game really does have some great moments.

Where it can be improved is teamwork - it's a shame your squad is limited to 4 players, which wouldn't be so bad if team leaders could chat to each other to syncronise attacks. Still, a worthy successor to Battlefield.

You have a good point there about team leaders being able to somehow communicate with each other. I know the squad leader is able to use point commands such as attack or defend a certain area(where it marks a highlighted way-point). I'm not sure if other squads on the same side can also see these order points, if so then that would certainly help. The squad commands I find a bit fiddly to use in the heat of battle, but I'm sure competent leaders will get the hang of it quite easily(I'm certainly not a born leader!).

As for the choppers, crazy but I didn't even consider that you could land and take control points, good tactic. You were lucky to stay in the air that long oasismark, don't usually get the opportunity to stay up there very long with all the rockets, EMP rockets etc. being fired at you

Re: AVF Frontlines: Fuel of War Group

You don't even need to land, just hover above it, but keep an eye out for enemy.

You know you can release flares with the A button, will ward off 1 or 2 rockets but if there's lots your normally going down, not discovered how to jump out and parachute down yet, suppose i should look at the keys menu.

(keys! = Q,A,O,P,Space )

The other good tactic is carry someone over to the enemy base, where they hang about and nick the enemy chopper, so you got total air dominance.

Definatley another game that needs communication, like TF2.

With COD4 you can play for hours without speaking.

I didn't know that, very handy cheers! As for parachuting, oh I've done plenty of that alright, usually in panic & leaving SuperYew behind on the turret gun Just press B followed by X to open the chute.

This is game is gr8 had a few games during the day , it really promotes teram play. no one man army in this game. The K+LMG is pretty good on this game as well, the sniper rifle seems a bit hard cos I kept doing headshots but nothing seems to happen

Didn't receive a request from you though Mark, will send you a request from that tag later if you still wish to be added(which I'm guessing you do as it sounds as though you're enjoying the game), otherwise just reject it

billymav, do you still want to be added as I didn't receive a request from yourself either which you mentioned you'd sent earlier on?

BTW, those concerned with how we can work together as a larger group than just a four or five man squad, just noticed the following comments by a member of staff over at the official Frontlines forums:

Quote:
As of now, you are bound to just the 4 man team. Frank Delise has stated that they are looking into a title update for squad leader to squad leader talk and possibly proximity chat. I know I didn't talk at all last night becasue it was 3 in the frikkin morning when I fired up the demo.

4 players is enough to talk to in my book, but SL to SL talk NEEDS to be imlpimented for any type of compeditive play or big team coordination on the 360.
followed further down by:
Quote:
The good thing is that the left direction on the D-Pad is left unused. Seems like a good place to put SL to SL chat!
Sounds like a nice workable solution for that little problem.

Re: AVF Frontlines: Fuel of War Group

good idea - sent friends request

the game is soo balanced if you ask me

at one time i thought the sentry guns were too much (as 1 person can put up more than 1 sentry gun as long as they keep ranking up)

but if you use emps it quickly disables them!

i ranked up like 30 sentry gun kills before someone worked out that emps stopped them heehe - then the game quickly changed...

Re: AVF Frontlines: Fuel of War Group

Spent a couple of hours on this demo since i downloaded it last night. Great fun if a little baffling to start off with (how do you get to use the drones, helicopters etc!) Preffered the city map over the oil field one, the tactic that suits me best is to use the snipers rifle & get up high! I've noticed that the snipers scope is a little dodgy in terms of accuracy (hope this gets fixed with the proper game!) When is this game getting it's UK release?
