Exclamation AVF PES Association: What to do...

I think the disappointment with Konami's online efforts this year is almost universal .. and there's absolutely no point people continuing playing because they feel they have commited to this league, even if the game is not enjoyable .. and in some cases downright infuriating.

Please could club members reply to the following multi-choice poll and I will see what options we have available to us. I rarely expected PES 08 to leave my most 5 recently played games list, but the only motivation I have to put it in the 360 is to play you guys in this league.

The options are:

For those who only own PES:
- Continue
- Call it a day

For those who own FIFA and/or SWOS
- Continue
- Move to FIFA and/or SWOS
- Call it a day

The poll is multichoice so please select all options that you would be happy with.

e.g. "Move to FIFA" and "Move to SWOS" and "Call it day", in other words -- I've had enough of PES .. move to another game if we can or refunds please.
e.g. "Carry on through the pain" and "Call it a day", in other words -- not interested in eithe FIFA/SWOS, if we carry on I'll stick with it, but giving up won't upset me too much either

Personally, I'll happily carry on in the hope it's fixed in the not too distant future, I have both FIFA and SWOS so could happily switch to those too, and I wouldn't be heartbroken if we called it a day either as if they don't fix the online I think we'll struggle to complete the fixtures anyway!

Re: AVF PES Association: What to do...

I've voted "call it a day". I haven't got FIFA and I'm not sure it would be as much fun playing the whole thing out on SWOS.

Its a total nightmare though, especially with all of the work that you've put into organising it all. Online just doesn't work right & it makes it so frustrating.

Don't get me wrong though I'll certainly carry on with it if thats what we decide. I'm just annoyed that there is seemingly no work going on to fix it.

Re: AVF PES Association: What to do...

I'm afraid I've lost all faith in a patch coming now, I feel Konami have cut their losses and are waiting for us all to buy PES 2009. From that point of view, I'd be more than happy to move to either FIFA or SWOS, excellent as they both are or just hold our hands up and call it a day.

I'd be happy to move to PES6 too, the netcode was flawless on that.

Re: AVF PES Association: What to do...

I've been really enjoying the league and I'm keen to keep playing it. Yes the game online can get laggy, but so far I've enjoyed all 3 of my games and was really looking forward to the rest of the league.

I'm happy to go with the majority, but I'll be voting to keep playing. I've not got FIFA, although I do have SWOS I think the netcode on that is really bad (or at least in my experience so far).

Re: AVF PES Association: What to do...

i've been debating this in my head ever since you created this thread durera and i'm still undecided.

i don't have fifa or swos so both those options are out for me.

i'm stuck between playin on and quitting. the two games i've played have been enjoyable to a degree, but the game is just no were close to what it should be or what i was expecting it to be!!

the only reason i still have it is due to this league and can't find any other reason than this to even put it into my 360.

i played a few games just before xmas and the lag was ridiculous and haven't been near it since.

pes6 for all its flaws was never out of my console but this ones the opposite!!

i feel sorry for durera because of the amount of work that hes put into it and also feel that a vote to quit is a bit disrepectful towards him.

but on the other hand the game is terrible!!!

i still need to make a decision so i think i'l vote to quit (sorry durera, i do appreciate the work you've put into this!!!)

however i'l happily play on through the pain barrier if the vote dictates, i just won't be practicing much when not playing the league games

I voted to go with Fifa but if not I'd call it a day or go back to PES6.

Great work durera, shame the developers cocked it up for us all.

Re: AVF PES Association: What to do...

Well my vote is to continue. Although I do agree the online side of this game is absolute rubbish, the two games that I have played have had very little lag. However we are now 9 weeks after the release of the game and we STILL do not have a fully working online game its a disgrace.

There's no doubt about it this league has been set up perfectly by Durera and I would like to see it continue despite the problems. Like we've said we are all adults and during or after our games if we feel that the lag has ruined the game then it should be decided by the two participants that a replay is in order.

I personally think that they will sort out the problems, but dont hold your breath, it could be a few more weeks yet, who knows, it could be tomorrow!

Re: AVF PES Association: What to do...

I'll echo the sentiments here - a bit undecided really. My 360 is en route back to MS at the moment anyway and I'm hopeful that Konami will sort out the issues but that's wishful thinking more than anything, I know.

I no longer have FIFA and haven't yet got SWOS.

I think I'll vote "call it a day" because I fear all your hard work will be undone and people won't be motivated to play in the league and that won't be down to how this has been arranged, merely how poorly online play has been implemented.

If playing on Xbox LIVE is important to you I'd suggest you stick with PES 6.

If your more of a single player / local play guy then it's fine. It's just the online thats a pain.

Re: AVF PES Association: What to do...

I'd be more than happy to move to Fifa but if that isn't on i'd probably carry on.

Honestly i haven't wanted to quit simply because of all the hard work and thought that's gone into this league by Durera. I just don't feel terribly motivated to put in the practice as even if i manage somehow to play well for once there's always the possibility that the ball will teleport into the net or an opponent will seemingly walk through my defender etc.

I genuinely hate to be negative but i have to say it as i see it. Konami really dropped the ball with this one.

Re: AVF PES Association: What to do...

I read somewhere that (360 magazine?) that Konami are possibly going to not release a PES 2009 and completely redesign it for 2010. Their motives around this game will become obvious when they officially announce their plans. If they release another rehash of the old formula then they clearly don't care about us the gamers and are only interested in the cash.

Re: AVF PES Association: What to do...

Thanks alot trist. Useful info. I would say i am more of a live player than a local player. As i find it more fun. So is PES08 really bad on-line. PES06 on-line was not that good either i found.

I think if all depends of the games your playing at the group your with really. I have find some days i can have a great game that loads of fun. When when you in a room waiting for a game to begin and its just abuse you can hear all the way through it puts a downer on it i feel.

I feel the same tbh but I need to get involved more with the guys on here....GOW, COD4 etc I haven't played online, really only play Fifa 2008 online which is superb.

Anyway, more people need to vote on this so we can make a decision......we should have started with Fifa, much better game than PES imo and brilliant online.

Fifa, imo, is much better than PES...for gameplay as well as the superb online games.

It's a shame because I really liked PES 6, this version is just complete tosh.

It'd have to be a new poll, can't add options once it's opened. I said way back in this thread I'd be happy to move to 6. You can pick it up dirt cheap 2nd hand now and the netcode (since they patched it) is very good.

Re: AVF PES Association: What to do...

Really not sure what to pick here ...

I was originally having to force myself to play PES08 in order to get up to speed for this league having played a lot of Fifa.

Originally I really did not like PES08 but having played the master league and AVF games I`m really getting to like it. That said the netcode is just not up to scratch - perhaps we need to meet to play our games. I reckon as a 2 player on one console it would be great fun !

I really enjoyed Fifa08 and struggled to get to like PES08 (PES6 was by far my most played game). But there is something about PES08`s instant reactions and flowing football that is now drawing me back. Shame it just does not play like that online.

Not got SWOS but will probably get it soon - maybe if I get an arcade stick but not really meaty enough to deserve this league.

I played two games each (one online and one offline) last night of Fifa08 and PES08 and in fact enjoyed PES more. At the beginning of this I was a big Fifa08 fan and thought it trounced PES08 but it is winning me round via master league.

However, this is an ONLINE tournament and Fifa plays simply flawlessly online. I have played people in Canada, New Zealand and South Korea with no real lag whereas PES08 is teleportoball even with our league. So with some regret I think I will vote to switch to Fifa. I would be minded to stick with PES08 if there was a prospect of a fix in the forseeable future but it seems to have gone quiet after the initial patch.

Not sure that I can go back to PES6 now - the animations and movement in FIFA08 and PES08 are just so much smoother. PES08 offline is so much better than PES6.

In any event - Many Thanks to Durera for the organisation so far and I strongly feel that this league should carry on in some form.

Conclusion = single vote to switch to Fifa.

Re: AVF PES Association: What to do...

Having read the discussion in this thread I have come up with a number of options for where to take the league. I have posted a new poll for your voting pleasure.

Cast your vote here Unlike this thread, which was intended to collect thoughts on what we can do, your vote in this new poll will decide what we do.
