The injury gamble
If your star player is injured and you really don't want to lose him for the fixtures in Fixture Period 1 you have one option. The gamble, if you choose to gamble then your injured player will be returned to the squad fit and raring to go, but you will incur two new random injuries ... your odds (as best as I can calculate):

• 18% chance same player gets injured anyway
• 8% chance only one different player is injured
• 74% chance two different players are injured
• 8% chance the same player and another player are injured

• Real Madrid - Raul

• Newcastle - Rozenhal
• Valencia - Ivan Helguera
• Manchester City - Dunne

• West Ham - Bowyer
• Roma - Mancini
• Ajax - Hettinga
• Tottenham - Kaboul
• At. Madrid - Aguero
• Fiorentina - Gamberini
• Real Zaragoza - D'Alessandro
• Sevilla - A. Palop
• Villareal - Mavuba
• Marseille - Givet

Example:
Current injured player = Gerrard
I choose to gamble:
- 1 player from the Default starting 11 is chosen, there's a 1/11 chance it's Gerrard again anyway! It just so happens that I draw Pennant -- result!
- 1 player from the Default starting 11 is chosen for a second time, again this could be Gerrard, it could even be the same different player that was selected the first time. The God's smile down on me and Pennant is drawn a 2nd time. Basically this is the best possible outcome from the gamble!

Of course, it's entirely possible that the first pick could have been Torres and the second Gerrard .. that's the risk you take if you gamble!
