Ok mentioned this a few times over live but nothing has come of it so i thought i would just go ahead and do it myself. We've been playing together now for quite some time so here is the place to put a face to the name and share a bit about yourself. And seeing as this a forum for AV it would only be right to show where you play and the system you play on. Pics to be added when i can get hold of my brothers digital camera. Ok this is me : Pic to come. Im coming up 30 in January, not sure how i feel about this yet but it doesn't bother me. I work nights in a local bakery where we mainly make bread, confectionary etc... for schools, cafes', businesses, retailers, 3 of our own shops aswell as some special orders. I start work at 22:00 and go right through till 7:00 - 8:00, due to the nature of the job we don't stop for breaks but i usually manage to have a 5 min sit down a couple times and we make, eat or take anything home we want. My boss is a great bloke and i don't mind working so hard for him but i think we are due a talk about the ol' money issue. The jobs pretty good, boss is great, co-workers are great and everyone is really chilled out but nights are starting to drag on me especially having time to play online, see mates and spend time with the girlfriend. Currently i am living back with my parents and have everything in a 12'x11' room spilling into the conservatory and garage while i wait for my flat to be finished . Only renting as house prices are way out of reach for me down here, i could raise the money but i refuse to put myself in so much dept. Can't wait to move again and put everything out properly. Pics of setup in its current residence to come. My setup has been built up over many years and it is a great escape from reality. Current screen is a Panasonic PW8 which gives me awsome pictures even from SD digital channels, once HD is more common and SD begins to get phased out or it breaks i will hold off upgrading. This is feed from either a cheap and soon to be upgraded PVR, a Denon 1910 DVD player which might get replaced with either a combi HD-DVD/BR/DVD player or just a plain upscaling DVD player and ofcourse my Xbox 360. All of those sources also go to my Denon 2106 AV amp which in turn feed my tannoy speakers, the front two are bi-amped, setup in a 5.1 configuration. And to top off the main system is my SVS PB12+ its a total monster and i absolutely love it, nothing else has come close to changing my system than my big beast. Plan is to add a projector probably just a 720P job to start on that road with electric screen, then change my speakers and add a stereo amp with av pass through and go digital for my music and multiroom with something like the sonos. Eventually i would like to end up it all multiroom with HD sound and pictures but thats a long way off, oh and i wouldn't mind a IB subwoofer either. God knows when i will have a chance to upgrade but we need to have something to aim for. ![]() My other two systems are in my sig with the second going in the dining room (yeah like im going to have a dining table ) and the third will be brought out when i have people over and its nice enough to go in the garden. ![]() Yeah you guessed pics to come. So thats me now its your turn. Sorry i made the post without pictures i will be able to sort that in the next few days when my brother gets back from holiday. |

Good idea Morb. Okay I'll try and dig up a safe picture soon (they have this rule about mistreatment of members being a banning policy so have to tread carefully). Okay well I suppose I had better start by saying that my name is not Kahled nor Ima Nastyone, those were names of text RPG characters I had from another board where I like to chill out writing on when not blowing things up or swiping people into a wall *cough* in games (Kahled is a dragon rider ala Pern and Ima Nastyone is a psychotic news reporter who works for DNN (Demonic News Network)). Manny is not my real name either but one I generally go by since several of my American friends call me that and you just have to love the way they say "Mahhhneeee" - it's close enough anyway so I generally use that now *rotf* Now on the wrong side of the year to be staring at Birthday number 38, eep! My official job title is Principal Systems Analyst but basically I do pretty much the full spectrum of systems work, i.e. analysis, design, coding, support, systems admin, DB admin, team leader, training, tea boy, etc. Been with the same company now since I left University and it's a lot of stress but very rarely boring. Currently coming up to a big systems testing phase my my latest project which has been on the go the best part of a year now, so my nerves very frazzled. Definately picked a dodgy time to quit smoking ... still 40 a day on average to none now and made it just over five weeks so far so not quite a basket case yet. I spend my days dealing with large common brand name companies although to my neighbours who know what I do this always translates to the guy to speak to when the printer breaks *grumbles* Work definately not helping with my house at the moment which is starting to get rather grungy, really have to do something about that but damn! Got a four bedroom place all to myself which I bought nearly four years ago after renting for ten odd years... scary thing is it's full so probably a good job I am single *gibbers* My setup is kind of in flux at the moment as I recently got rid of a PS3 and replaced it with an Elite 360, so in terms of consoles connected I currently have (come on to the tune of the 12 days of Christmas...)two 360's, a Sony PS2, and a shiney white Nintendo Wii. The display is courtesy of Toshiba and is a 42" WLT66 model, very nice and a 1080 panel (which oddly cannot accept 1080p) which really looks the biz for the 360. Sound oomph comes from a Yamaha DSP home cinema setup, Mission speakers all around bar a giant sub that scares the bubbles (?) out of my fish when on (note that is sub-woofer rather than submarine although still not sure which would scare the fish more). Not going to have one of the 360's much longer as my mother is a Bejewled adict and put dibs on the 'old' 360 as soon as she heard I had bought another, good news in that now I won't have to cart my 360 up there when I go to visit... when she plays she is pretty darn good for a little ol' lady (I've still not beat her damn score on Wii bowling *grumbles*) Thinking of trying to make use of the garage conversion as a home cinema room but struggling with that plan since the room currently houses my 2000+ video collection and 700+ DVD collection... nightmare for space!! Think I am just going to have to bite the bullet and chuck all the videos to the charity shop or something but quite hard to part with them after so many years collecting. If that plan ever does go ahead then pretty sure it will be a projector based solution. I love Guitar Hero but am not very good, love Forza but am not very good, generally love gaming and escapism really but am not very... well you get the drift Last edited by Kahled; 18-09-2007 at 8:02 PM. |

Cool Khaled sounds like you horde stuff if you have filled a 4 bed house all alone, easily done though especially when you have large cd/dvd/game collections. Your setup sounds great will be nice to see some pics of it. So haven't been able to get hold of my brother yet but i thought i could post a few old pics from my HD and get some good pics when i have moved and installed everything. ![]() ![]() Thats not what its like atm but roughly how it looks, the second picture is when my sub was delivered. I can't find anymore pictures on my system so will have to wait for now. Hope to see some more of you guys post. |
