It has been suggested that instead of the standard 10 minute games we play with either 15 or 20 minute games to make them more meaningful/epic.

When I ran the AVF World Cup at the back end of 2006 I had the same thought -- longer games lead to more strategic battles on the pitch, and make preserving stamina and accumulating yellow cards a bigger factor in the game -- but it didn't prove very successful, either through habit or choice most people played their games at 10 minute duration anyway, which became the match length for the competition by default after a couple of rounds.

Please vote accordingly:

• a) I Don't want to play matches that are more than 10 minutes long
• b) 10 or 15 minutes works for me
• c) Up to 20 minutes is fine by me

We will go with the majority vote. This decision will determine the length of every league match played in the upcoming season. Take time to think about this, as your decision at this point will impact the entire season's fixtures.

• Bear in mind that the match length is only a portion of the time it will take you to play each fixture (pre match team selection, stoppage time, half time, replays, etc)
• You only have 1 vote, feel free to discuss the issue before placing your vote as it cannot be changed afterwards.
• This poll is only for association members, I would appreciate it if non members didn't vote. Hopefully we will end up with exactly 18 votes as I would expect all members to have their say on this decision.

The second option of "b) 10 or 15 minutes works for me" works fine for me. 20 minutes sounds a bit long to me. I'm not the greatest so spending a full 20 minutes defending is going to be stressful

10 or 15 mins is probably the sweet spot IMO but I'm happy to go with the flow. I've not really done many 20 minute games before so if that's chosen I'm all for it. I certainly agree that it will help add the importance of yellow cards and stamina...

I put no more than 10 minutes. I find the longer games drag on a bit and you can end up with stupidly high scoring matches.

10 or 15 minutes is my preferred option. Whenever I play my brother we always play 15 minute matches and they are crackers more often than not.

20 minutes matches seem to last just a little bit too long for me, I can imagine 20 minutes feeling like an eternity if you're on the wrong end of a one-sided match.

That would be my fear.

... and equally for the player dishing out a thrashing it's probably not going to be overly rewarding.

Definitely wouldn't be disappointed if it was extended to 15 minutes over the standard 10.

I think 15 minutes.

10 minutes is a little too short. There is only one game a week or so and does not really give you enough chance to recover from one (or two) defensive errors.

On the other hand 20 minutes is a bit too long and the scores would start to look a little silly.

So that puts me in the 10 - 15 minutes bracket but strongly favouring 15 mins.

That said I haven`t voted yet - I`ll listen to the debate first.

It may be prudent to review this after some time of playing PES 2008 depending how it plays / flows and what the scoring is like.

I voted 10 or 15 minutes but I think it would have been a better poll if the choices were simply 10, 15 or 20 mins, I think 15 is about right for the reasons already posted above.

I feel 15minutes would be great, although some of the scores may end up really high.

Just an idea which i thought of on the spot but; maybe do 15 minutes for league games and 10 minutes for cup games, to maybe increase the chance of one goal clinching the win for the underdog?

Edit: Thanks again to Durera for the massive amount of effort he is putting into this game and the level of detail we are going into. I really can't wait till this gets going! From a personal point of view, i hope it isn't too dis-similar from PES6 as i'm quite good at it!

my vote went to the 10 - 15 mins. i'd prefer 10 mins tho. i've only played one 15 min game and the fella gave me a bad beatin so not played 15 mins since.

so like i say i'd prefer 10 mins be would be ok if everyone prefered 15.

- 10% of the association members have ruled out playing 15 minute matches (voted for a)
- 46% of the votes remain uncast

With 46% of the vote (8 votes) still be be placed:
- two more votes for option a) or b) will rule out 20 minute matches
- seven more votes for option a) will rule out 15 minute matches

10mins is ample as far as I'm concerned.

5mins is too short and you cant really get into the game. But I have played one guy on a 15min match and won 11-3!!! Too long IMO.

* 5 votes for 10 minute matches
* 7 for up to 15 minute matches
* 2 for up to 20 minute matches

At the moment:
- 66% of the association members have ruled out 20 minute matches (voted for a or b)
- 28% of the association members have ruled out playing 15 minute matches (voted for a)
- 22% of the votes remain uncast

Thus 20 minute matches is not an option.

- 50% (9 votes) are happy to play 15 minute games
- 28% (5 votes) want to stick with 10 minute games

Bottom line: If two or more of the remaining votes go to option b) we will play 15 minute matches, otherwise it will be 10 minute matches.

Well last night I played the official best player in the world = x ynwa x and I wish that was a 5min game cause I was 2-0 up af HT. He came back to win 5-3

He only really uses England and Liverpool he was England and I was chelsea. Honestley its weird he seems to have extra speed and his passing,defending,shooting etc is quality and the pressure is none stop. He's made his own site because he was sick of people Quiting when he was 8,9 10 nil up etc thats why if you look at his gamercard it looks like he used to cheat with his average score. He's alright still only 20 and is fast and powerfull championship is probley more his level. Hope he dose well for you. When he's played for city he's played on the left but can play upfront and I think thats where you'll play him cause you just signed chris brunt and he's a good player
