* hand raised *

Sounds excellent Durera! Put alot of thought into that, and I'm definitely up for it, as PES is something I'll be playing forever. Put me down as definitely interested, and I'll offer you a hand for any organisation that needs doing if you need someone.

I'll let the formats sink in for a while and comment back at a later date.

Re: AVF PES Association

Yup. PES is the only game I can guarantee I'll be playing for a solid year until the sequel. I've played in a lot of good competitions on these forums and with all the talk in the PES2008 preview thread about how leagues often fall by the wayside I thought maybe we could try to disprove that theory and have not only a successful league campaign, but a full season's worth of fixtures instead

I can certainly agree with that

Other games seem to come any go, but I always seem to return to PES.
Count me in for this one please durera. Really looking forward to see what Konami have done with PES 2008, I'd love to see the Championship included (although I'm very doubtful that will happen) so I can finally play as Palace in PES rather than having to adopt another team.

I only setup one competition for PES 6 but I know how much time it can end up consuming keeping track of things.

AVF PES6 Conference League

Running all of the above is a serious commitment so if I can help anything let me know.

League Position: 1st £20 ..... 2nd £15 ...... 3rd £10 ..... 4th £8 ..... 5th £5
League Cup: £5
FA Cup: £5 (If a non-member wins the FA Cup then the £5 goes to the team in 6th place)
Super Cup: £10
That actually not a bad idea, although I know I've got zero chance of winning anything (it's amazing you can spend so long playing something & still be no good at it) it'll be a good way of ensuring people don't drop out easily.

Re: AVF PES Association

Another idea I had (credit where it's due :: inspiration taken from Cricket's 20/20 format).

As well as the true football sim that is PES we run a spin-off competition (or two) in Sensible World of Soccer -- I'm assuming that most people who are serious enough to commit to this association are probably going to owners of SWOS on XBLA anyway -- SWOS/PES mirror's the difference between regular cricket and 20/20 cricket very well so I think it could work brilliantly for us.

In addition to the serious competition of the PES league we have an ongoing competition in SWOS. What better way to unwind after a game of PES than a quick blast on Sensi with whoever you just faced off against! A straight up 16 team league affair; with fixtures mirroring those of the PES league campaign. Except at the end of the season the top 4 teams play-off to decide who is crowned champion (US-style); which is in fitting with the Sensi approach to football.

I know that feeling. I'm pushing for my 100 ranked wins at the moment. Got to 50 last night; my win ratio fluctuates between 35 and 38%.

I still haven't got to grips with shooting in the game; I create so many chances but fluff them all and then my opponent get's a couple of one-on-one's and they beat the keeper 75% of the time -- much swearing ensues

At least you're creating chances

Love the SWOS idea by the way Plus I can play as Palace!

Hi Durera. Could you put my name for this. I played in the World Cup you ran, way back when PES6 came out. Got knocked out in the group stages. But I'll be up for some PES08 action.

Cheers

Hi

Count me in.

I did not play 6 as it was poor but I would be up for this as I do not think they will make the same mistakes twice.

Good Idea and I am looking forward to it

Hi

Can I be in? I'm not a prolific poster, but I'm a regular reader of the site.

I've also played in Mike's PES6 competition and saw that through to the end (well semi's until I was knocked out).

As long as you're committed to this that is the important thing :D

Once PES2008 has been released I'll contact everyone that has registered for the association to confirm they are still interested; just incase PES2008 doesn't meet expectations or real life has got in the way for some.

Re: AVF PES Association

I'm definitely committed to this and just hope that PES2008 is a big improvement over PES6 (which isn't THAT bad, but can be annoying at times).

Count me in.

And the £5 entry fee is a great idea to ensure people don't drop out.

Yes sorry.

I forgot to mention that £5.00 is a good idea.

I have tried various sites with leagues in etc and it seems there was alot of peeps bailing out, with a league a season long with cup comps etc it kinda keeps you interested. Even if you are around the bottom (like me) it will still be fun trying to influence the outcome of the title and to try and win a cup.

Re: AVF PES Association

I've posted a provision schedule (should we get 16 players) in the opening post. I've deliberately made it fixture light during December & January as I know it's tough for a lot of people to plan game time over those months.

- If we get only 8 players we can run a league similar to the SPL with each team playing one another 4 times.
- 8+ and we can go with the simple home and away approach, there'll simply be less league matches to fulfil each month.
- If we get less than 8 then it's probably not worth running.

Edit: Also, new ruling on the teams:

- Before teams are decided the members will be asked to nominate any game-breaking teams to be excluded from the league (e.g PES6's Inter Milan/Adriano)
- Players will choose their team baed on the order they signed up (for the 2009 season, teams will be picked based on reverse league order, from position 13 -1. Newly promoted teams/relegation survivors will pick last)

Re: AVF PES Association

Sensible League
In addition to the primary league we run a parrallel league competition in Sensible World of Soccer. Think of it as our equivalent to Cricket's 20/20 format.
- 4 minute matches, you can play as any team (and a different team each match if you like) for each fixture.
- Everyone plays each other twice.
- No official fixtures, you can play any fixture at any time. In March 2007, any players that have not fulfilled 40% of their fixtures will be eliminated from the league (along with any results from games they have already played).
- Start date September 2007
- End date August 2008

- Not all association members will have Sensi possibly (although they would be crazy to pass it up imo)!
- Open to non-association players too? Although this could lead to a problem with people dropping out?

It should be a nice "aside" from the serious competition of the PES I think. We don't need to wait for the start of the PES season either so it could fill the void between the end of August and the release of PES2008.

Heh, and I was hoping we could hide this from all the skilled players over here

Edit: We've got 8 players so we're definitely on for this now.

Aye, was a good game. I wasn't having much fun that day; was really getting tired of playing against el cheapo Brazil/Adriano players who don't even try to pass the ball around; but kept wanting to get "one more win" before quitting for the day, and when I did get one more win I would always think "I'll stop when I next lose" :D

I know what you mean about the Brazil boys. I did try and beat them using other teams (Germany are good against them). But now if someone picks them I do as well.

Can't wait to get my 100 wins so I can take pleasure is smashing the disc in a million peaces as payback for the sore head it's given me by making me headbutt my controller.
