^^ what?....
overall, for everything, picture quality, sound quality, motion handling...the panasonic PZ80 will be the better tv out of those 2.
the samsung, has average picture quality, IMO(and thats after extensively testing one,as a replacement for a F86), it doesnt look "real" to me, colours, etc just dont seem "right".
its sound quality is woeful, and the motion handling is just plain poor(it's 100hz is really bad,and after several models, samsung still cant get it working right).
for motion, for example, play a blu-ray, on a panasonic PZ80 at 1080/24, and its smooth, do the same on the samsung, and judder is still apparent.
samsungs 100hz, either produces a strange speeded up effect,or a soap opera effect, and essentially is a better performing tv,when one of the main selling points is switched off.
the sound, on the samsung, is poor, as i say, as the tv needs an internal subwoofer like the older "F" models, and the speakers on their own,are way down on the quality list.
the opposite can be said for the PZ80's sound, which is excellent, from what appears to be very small speakers.

What is the response time like for the samsung tv mentioned. That would have to be an issue for gaming i would of thought?

I can't see how plasma motion handling can be superior to LCD where gaming is concerned. Every single plasma I've seen games on suffers from phosphor lag/trails.
I suppose it is down to the user at the end of the day because I was sure the rainbow effect from DLP would bother me after phosphor lag and LCD's smearing but I wouldn't go for anything else now.

Motion Smear on LCD is far worse than anything on a good Plasma.

This guy wants to know between the panasonic model and samsung model. People cant say "oh you'll get smear" because panasonic dont have this and are one of the main leaders in plasma technology. You wont find a much better plasma than a panasonic plasma

While we're on the subject, is the PX80 still worth getting?

I had a lower end 50" Samsung Q97(?) and it was pretty bad but I've played on Kuros that exhibit the same issues, was playing GT5 Prologue a couple of weeks ago on one and I can clearly see almost a double image (a few pixels apart from the original) when cars were passing by.

That's because your eyes are obviously sensitive to it. If you see it on one plasma, you'll see it on all of them.
Some people can't see it at all, yet someone else using the exact same tv will spot it immediately. It's entirely user dependant.

Re: Which Of These HDTV's Will Produce The Best PQ With X360 Games?
You could opt for a hybrid D-ILA tv like mine if you can find one. D-ILA has no image lag, no screen burn, are more energy efficient than both plasma and LCD, the pixels are closer together eliminating the 'chicken wire' effect on LCD and it doesn't suffer the 'flashing rainbow' which is common with DLP sets. And once you replace the bulb every few years the set is back to new again, whereas a plasma will gradually lose it's brightness over time.

plasmas lose half their brighness after a certain amount of time. Its something like 14 years (if you was to watch it 24/7 365days a year.)

I have the complete opposite view Rottenfox. I've owned one of these Samsung LCDs since last June and cant complain about picture quality in the slightest. I watch ALOT of blu rays on my TV (and sky HD) and have never experienced any of the judder or other problems your describing with the picture. The PQ spec on this TV is very good for the money. I'm not sure If you callerbrated the set you had but, motion is fantastic, no judder or anything. Colours are great due to the massive contrast ratio as are black levels due to the brightness range making for a really realistic, sharp and vibrant picture. I honestly wouldnt hesitate is reccomending this TV to anyone, and like I said in my OP I've had lots of friends comment on how good the PQ is on my TV. I do agree that the sound is average though, as is the case on alot of HDTVs.
I dont want to get into a big debate with you over this, because you've obviously got a completely opposite opinion on this TV to me, and I'm not trying to dis-credit your opinion in the slightest. I just think this post should highlight to the original poster that no matter what other people say, or what spec sheets you can find on the net to 'compare' how good a TV is. Nothing beats seeing a TV operating first hand
and deciding whats best for you based on what you can see with your own eyes.
