I had this one, and it was a great budget telly. The 360 was most impressive on it....

But I've got this one now, LE40inch 686. Awesome.

That or the Sony W4500 are the best LCD tellies around under a grand at the moment, as far as I cant tell.

Re: What HDTV Are You Using With Your Xbox 360?

I've got a 46" Samsung 786 and it's the best LCD TV I've seen in the past 3 years (although I've not seen it's big brother, the 950).

I believe the 40" can be had for under a grand which is excellent value for money for an LED backlit TV.

Not saying the OP should buy it, but I and many others love it and I would recommend you include it in any shortlist.

See http://www.hdtvtest.co.uk/news/samsu...0080922131.htm for a review. There's mention of lag and combing but nobody else appears to have had any issues with these so I'm guessing this TV was a pre-production run or older firmware.

Re: What HDTV Are You Using With Your Xbox 360?

As you can see from my footer I have a thing for plasmas and have a couple of Panasonics.

I use my PX70 for gaming (and a lot of time has been spent on it, much of it on Rock Band!!) and have no problem with retention so can put your mind at rest on that. The Pannys have a very good standard def TV tuner in them and the picture quality is excellent. My PX80 is in my bedroom and is fantastic.

In fact I'm now looking in the sales for the Panny TH42PZ81B for my living room TV - that has a built in HD TV freeview tuner.

The previous posters are right, both LCD and plasma HD tvs will be excellent for gaming - you have to make a choice and go with what looks good for you.

Most of the arguments you will hear (retention on plasma and not as good motion handling on LCD) are a thing of the past on decent makes of TV.

Good luck!

Re: What HDTV Are You Using With Your Xbox 360?

Panasonic, every time.

A friend of mine who does high-end custom AV installs told me that unless you're prepared to stump up the extra for the acknowledged daddy, Pioneer, the Panasonic plasmas are head and shoulders above the rest.

Very happy indeed with my 42PZ80, both for gaming and TV.

Re: What HDTV Are You Using With Your Xbox 360?

Personally I prefer LCD for gaming and Plasma for TV - especially SD. Both technologies have +/- points.

Plasmas for gaming 'suffer' from short term image retention and, if your eyes are succeptable to it, phosphor trailing - although manufacturers have been attempting to combat both these problems.

LCD for standard definition TV (notably when viewing Sky with heavy Mpeg compression) suffer from blocky noise if the TV is larger and you are sat close

So you have to set yourself a budget, consider what you will use the TV for most and buy whatever suites.

I went for a 42PZ70 plasma last year when they were cheap just before the PZ80 was released. It does a great job all round for the price I paid. If I was to upgrade I'd go to a 50" - whether I'd stay with a plasma is something I often consider - it's a tricky one with the new Samsung LCD's being so good, but the pioneer 9 series (5090) 50" plasma is lovely too.

Re: What HDTV Are You Using With Your Xbox 360?

Plasma for me mines just a humble 42" PX80 but it blows my socks off for watching HD-DVD via the X360's add on, playing Halo3 and Forza2 is just jaw dropping stuff especailly as I sit around 6 feet away

I guess at the end of the day both techs have + and - points, me personally I made my choice by browsing this very forum in the 37"-42" Panasonic PX80 owners thread and have never looked back

Re: What HDTV Are You Using With Your Xbox 360?

I don't play the 360 often, but when i do it is for 8 hour + sessions.

So, I was scared off getting a plasma.

The Samsung 6 series I have has GREAT standard Def tv picture, this is what swung it for me.

I have been really looking at that TV as I like the glossy finish and I want a TV with an LED back light as well as all the connections and screen res this TV has.

Do you notice any lag at all when playing on a Xbox 360? I mainly play games on my TV and if this TV has some lag I might have to hold off getting a TV until it's sorted.
