I have been wondering this for some time as to whether they will allow game, film or abstract characters to be used. No doubt for a fee although being rewarded by an acheivement would be nicer 
Not sure if the new NXE avatar's would be able to cope as it stands with say a Master Chief character. I guess the system has to model the clothes around the set body shapes/styles etc. Whether a future update would deal with this remains to be seen.
If on the other hand you wanted a kind of fancy dress type clothing on your exisiting avatar with say a cardboard type helmet/armour then I see no reason why not. Bit odd but could be intersting.
However my may concern as someone else mentioned elsewhere in the thread; I am more concerned about the appalling slow refresh on some of the NXE areas...
