60GB HDD where?

After installing a couple of games on my 360 i'm definately going to need a bigger HDD.

There's just not enough space for Games, Demos and Music etc.

I've checked the usual places (eBay, Google etc) but cannot find a 60GB HDD for sale as a stand alone item. It either comes bundled as part of a "starter kit" or with a 360.

Any ideas where I can get one from? I don't see the 120GB HDD as a necessity and think it would be overkill for my needs, but a 60GB HDD would be just right.

Thanks, Chris.

Re: 60GB HDD where?

I doubt you'll get better value than with play.com:

60gb starter kit = £49.99

There's some things you could sell on with that pack to reduce your outlay to circa £40. Bargain!!

There isn't a transfer cable included in the starter pack and I'm not sure how you'd go about getting one and I don't want to lose all my game saves. I canceled my Game pre-order for one of those yesterday because of this.

Don't think the starter pack is released until this Friday.

It's £49.99 at Game as well and there is still a valid £3 off code available... and quidco... and reward points.

Just use a memory card to transfer your profiles and saves as you can redownload XBLA titles onto your new hard drive

Re: 60GB HDD where?

I'd have to buy a memory card though... and that's another £20 or so.

Should be able to pick up a 64mb one for a fiver or there abouts on the classifies here, or borrow one if you can as you'll only need it the once.

Re: 60GB HDD where?

I have a 64MB memory card already as I bought a 360 "Core" as it used to be known and this came with it. Transferring save games shouldn't be too difficult as most saves are small, and any online games usually store your data on a roaming profile.

An example is COD4, I can go to my parents and download my Gamertag and get all my weapons, custom classes and setups just as if I was at home

Re: 60GB HDD where?

I was looking at my game saves earlier though and a lot of the files are bigger than that. Burount Paradise for instance is about 1GB. That will be downloads and so on but they all seem to show as 1 file.

It'd be easier to use a cable. Seems you can get a 120GB drive for £80 or so with a cable... just don't want to pay that much... my 20Gb premium cost over £300 at the time.

Re: 60GB HDD where?

Haven't played Burnout Paradise myself yet, will test that later.

But Oblivion shows 1gb+ when you look as it includes all the download updates (Shivering Isles etc), whilst the save game itself is 1 or 2mb. Probably same thing with Burnout Paradise I would imagine.

Biggest save game I've seen is Football Manager 2008 @ 50mb

Re: 60GB HDD where?

The memory card transfer worked for me - just used an old card that was in a digital camera and it worked a treat.

Didn't know you could use any card other than the standard shape 360 ones?

Re: 60GB HDD where?

120GB HDD is £65 in CEX if you have one near you. I traded a bunch of old games to get one, borrowed a memory card and now have is sitting on my 360. Will take the 20GB to CEX and get a few quid for it.

Some Blockbusters are selling the 120 at £69. It appears to be those BBs who did not team up with gamestation a while ago. It comes with migration cable, so no need for memory card. My local BB had a gamestation team up in store sothey are charging £129.99!!

Thats impossible as far as i'm aware because the saves cannot be copied to anything other than the hard drive or official memory cards, you cant just connect a USB card reader and copy to that..... unless things have changed
The only other way i know it can be done is a direct connection from the hard drive to your PC via SATA
