. This is copied from what I wrote in another thread:

"Right, today (August 17th) I went into Gamestation and asked what was happening. They had just received some info so here it is:

There will be no transfers instore, as it will take over and hour, and they do not want to be held responsible for any data loss. Fair enough I thought.

They will however be having an offer on, where you can trade your Premium in and get the Elite for £139.99, When you trade in your Premium, they let you keep your original 20gb harddrive and take it home with your new Elite. They deduct the value of the harddrive off the premium when trading it in(they said £32) and you can then transfer the content in your own time at your house. You then go back to the store with your 20gb harddrive and receipt for your Elite within the next 30 days, and then get your £32 back by the method you paid for the Elite.

They confirmed transfer cables would not be in the Elite box, and they could be requested from Microsoft free of charge, by even ringing them, or sending a form off that had been downloaded from xbox.com

Obviously I don't know what other stores will be doing, but Gamestation's method does seem to be very ideal."

Hope that helps. This has now been confirmed by other forum members, so not just my Gamestation store doing it. Best to contact your local one if interested.

I think that is a decision only you can make. Do you need the Elite ? Does it offer anything specific you can't get from your current 360 ? Is it worth getting in your mind for the difference you have to pay ?

I find GAME always check to see if the seal is intact when trading in or returning for refunds/exchanges. Not sure about elsewhere

Re: Trade in deals for the Elite ?

I've just been quoted £175 (Gamestation) for a premium against an Elite system! I was however told to check back later in the week as this changes on a daily basis, she seemed to think there would be a good deal against the Elite system nearer the time.

Just got Quoted £140 on the phone for a Premium against an Elite at the Edinburgh Gamestation. I asked if the price varied from store to store but he claimed that was the price being offered nationwide.

Can you keep any of the original peripherals (ie the wireless controller)?
And does it need to be boxed?

Re: Trade in deals for the Elite ?

Must be traded-in with all original parts inc. wireless pad, ethernet, headset, video cable, scart block, faceplate.

Game are offering £140 trade-in. The way they are getting round the data transfer is by offering the same Cash trade-in as Credit trade-in. What this means is that you needn't trade your Premium in until you have got the data cable and transferred the data. Once you have done the transfer, simply trade in the old premium for £140 cash. This is valid until 30th September.

Edit : No box needed.

That could be right, i called the Gamestation website after my local store and the girl said i should get £160 with all the accessories although she seemed to think that £299 was a web exclusive price even after i explained that was the RRP.

Game have tempted me with one of their bundles though, The Elite and Bioshock for £310, I'll find it out if that's web exclusive tomorrow.

Re: Trade in deals for the Elite ?

Well when my 360 broke I picked up a PS3 to hold me over until the 360 Elite is released. I traded my PS3 in today for a Elite pre-order.

I got £251 for the PS3, £20 for Resistance, £19 for Motorstorm, £1 for the remote (!!! what a rip - unboxed PS2 game? think that was a mistake), £12 for second controller, £5 for Casino Royale (Blu-Ray). This is from GameStation - I originally was quoted £220 (or was it £230?) for the PS3 but I got them to price match Game.

All in all £308. Cost me originally £452.97

The shop was insisting it is £330 for the Elite, I pointed them to their website which was £300 with a free game. No luck but they (in the shop) probably don't know yet.

Doesn't look like i'll be trading in now as i've just sold my premium, COD3, Star wars Lego 2, Extra Pad, wireless headset and play and charge kit for £200 to a family member.

I'm such a fool as i proabbly would have got more trade in

Re: Trade in deals for the Elite ?

Its £160 trade in for the prem.

Then you get a Elite and Blue Dragon for £140

Blue dragon trades back in as £30 today.

Is the elite much quieter than the normal prem ?

Re: Trade in deals for the Elite ?

I wonder how much Game/Gamestation would offer me for the following:

PS3
Resistance
Godfather: Dons Edition
Motorstorm
COD 3
Blue Ray Remote
HDMI Cable (I dont even know they will accept accesories?) I still have the box for the hdmi cable just not the blue ray remote packaging, not holding my breath).

I was hoping maybe around £350 maybe? Or am I being too optimistic, as it cost me nearly £570 in total

I think places like Gamestation package em with a couple of used games and sell em for £30/£40 less than the equivalent "new" package

Just phoned blockbuster
£160 trade in for premium, and you get Halo 3 free with an elite, you just go in and pick it up on release day
