Offline Achievements & Swapping HDD Between Consoles

Hi guys,

A few questions if someone could be kind enough to answer:

1) If I have two Xbox 360s, one of which with a HDD, can I move the HDD between them and have access to all my save games?

2) Assuming the answer to question 1 is yes - if one Xbox 360 is never connected to Live - can I play games on it, earn achievements and have these register on my Gamertag when I attach the HDD to the 360 that does connect to Live?

3) What sort of price do Gamestation charge for a second hand Xbox 360 core? How much of a trade-in would they give for a PS2?

That's all my questions! I appreciate they seem a little random howver there is a good reaosn behind it all. I currently work away during the week and have no Live suitable internet connection (all I have is 28.8k dialup ). I have a PS2 to entertain me whilst away but have really got through all the games I want to play with that - ergo when I finish Shadow Of The Colossus I was planning to sell it and buy a second hand Xbox 360 core. I would then carry around the HDD when I commute and simply plug it back into my 'proper' 360 at weekends. Obviously I could just unplug my original 360 every week but that is far to much hastle!

Many thanks!

Re: Offline Achievements & Swapping HDD Between Consoles

Well I had to get a new 360 yesterday and it was simply a case of removing the HDD from the original and inserting it into the new one.

Achievements and saves are fine, and this is not the first time I have had to do this so do not see any issue with general use.

The only problem that I am aware of that you will have is with certain downloaded content which cannot be used unless connected to Live at the time, arcade downloads for example.

That's not a show stopper - Arcade hasn't really impressed me that much TBH - I assume though that proper, off the shelf Xbox 360 games will be OK?

Re: Offline Achievements & Swapping HDD Between Consoles

Well can't vouch for all games but while games will play fine off disk there are issues if you want to use any DLC, just tried it out of interest on GH II and disconnected my network. In this case the game loaded and played as normal but the downloaded track packs were not available for selection.

Was thinking before about phoning MS and trying to get some games re-credited since this is not my first replacement but I'm planning on picking up an Elite next week and so would only have to do it again then (I think).

Games fine... DLC not available unless disk is attached to the XBox it was downloaded on.

Yeah when my core broke I just plugged my old memory card and HDD into the new one and it worked fine, didn't have to do anything if I remember correctly.
